How's the road from Hyd to Warangal?

H guys,
I travelled on this route 3 years back, and it was good--took me 3 hours to reach Warangal. How is the road now?
I am planning to take my bro and his fly on Tuesday, as they have come from Cal for a vacation.
Also, what are the tourist places worth seeing there, apart from the 1000 pillar temple? Are they accessible by car, or is is advisable to park it in the centre of city and go on autos

Places of Interest:

Warangal: Warangal Fort ruins. You can see the famous Kakatiya Gates still standing.

Bhadrakali temple on a small hillock on the way to Hanamkonda.

Hanamkonda: Of course the 1000 pillar temple. This temple is also in shambles apparently (used to be in pretty good shape some 20 years ago). The "Nandi" in this temple is probably the finest (or atleast one of the finest) you can ever see - exquisite carvings on the sculpture made out of single piece of rock.

Ramappa Lake & Temple is about 70kms from Warangal.
