Thanks for sharing details of your drive. The story continues I guess, irrespective of the route, the drive is still a tiring one.Maybe the Baramati route would have been a slightly better route?Did you sort out your car problem? What was it?

Yes Ranjit, next time I might try the Baramati route. I joined office on Thursday, so could not take the car to a service station, will get it serviced soon.

re: Pune to Hyderabad : Route Queries

I rode my RX100 to Solapur over the weekend.
Pune-Solpaur: Left at 6:30 AM. Reached 12:00 Noon. The roads are pretty empty till 8:00 am and I made quick time to get onto the first (and only) toll section. That stretch zips by quick and then you get into the line of diversions and two lane roads. Add a dash of couple of level crossings and you have the perfect recipe for an average speed which will not exceed 50-55 kmph.

Road till Bhigwan (approx 100Km) is good. There are stetches where in addition to 4 lanes, two lanes(each) of service road is also being created. In a desolate landscape, looking at these roads leading to the horizon was an amazing sight.

Bhigwan to Indapur is an OK road -broken surface at stretches.
Indapur by pass is not operational so expect congestion while crossing the town.
Indapur-Shetfal-Mohol-Solapur : Two lane road and diversions - plenty of them.

On a two wheeler - there is a distinct advantage of overtaking easily. The RX with it's 3rd gear torque is perfect for this reason. It took me ~ 5.5 Hrs both sides to cover the 267 kms door to door. Maximum speed I restricted myself to wa 80 kmph.

I am planning to drive to Pune this Friday, Please let me know latest status of Solapur - Pune road condition. I am planning a route Hyderabad - Solapur - Pandharpur- Phaltan - Jejuri and Pune. I am planning to start early morning at 4.30 -5.00 so that can reach Pune early. Let me know if there is any better route.

Here is the log of my drive a couple of days back from Hyd to Mumbai. You can note the details of the drive till Pune from the log.

Budget for a 12 hr drive. No eating facilities enroute.Solapur-Pune diversions in place.Road shoulders very bad at many places.Shetfal Railway crossing is a perennial headache.Take the Baramati route from Indapur instead of going via Pandharpur.Solapur-Indapur can be covered in 3-4hrs.5am departure HYD should see you reaching Pune by 3pm

Thanks Ranjit, This makes sense to me I would take a following route
HYD - Solapur- Baramati - Saswad - Hadapsar - Pune as I am going to Pune itself.

I will stop at Nisarg after solapur and may be at Moregaon

Yes very regular to Mumbai.Yes the only problem with Solapur restaurants and hotels are that they are pretty low on the cleanliness factor inspite of it being quite a large town-city.Have stayed in a couple of hotels as well, but decided its better off driving long distances rather than staying in Solapur.I am waiting for the Fern Residency Crossroads on the bypass to open.It would be a good option for a break of journey.

The Solapur-Mangalwedha-Sangole Circle road is back to being good now as well.

I agree with you despite of being big city Solapur doesn't have a decent hotel, Even I tried some place in Solapur while going to Mahableshwar

I am planning to take Sangli- Songola- Mangalwedha - Solapur - Hyd route while coming back. That should be faster than Pune route.

I dont think it would be faster,it would be a long drive and almost 250kms extra. The best way to do Pune-Hyd is to leave Pune by 5am,take the Baramati route and reach Indapur by 8,then you would be able to beat the traffic and you should be in Hyd in 10hrs time from Pune.

Pune-Satara-Kolhapur:3-4hours (220kms)

Kolhapur-Sangole Circle-M'wedha-Solapur:5hours (230kms)

Solapur-Patancheru:4.5hours (280kms)

I will be staying in Sangli and starting from there straight to Hyderabad. I agree with you it doesn't make any sense from Pune to HYD via Sangli

From Sangli,I would suggest that you go via Athani-Chikodi-Bijapur-Gulbarga-Homnabad.Excellent road throughout all the way till Homnabad. From thereon its a fast drive to Hyderabad.
