Trip from Bangalore

I intend to do a 2 days/1 night trip this weekend from Bangalore to a quiet, cold place with 7 of my relatives (half of them elders). It would be a drive down in an innova.

The options I am considering are Kabini river lodge, BRT.

Wanted team-bhp's help in terms of :

- any other place that I should consider
- helping choose a not too inexpensive hotel (my budget is Rs. 5k for the 7 of us for shelter/breakfast).

Also do these need any permits/passes and if so, how do I get them.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yercaud, near Salem is a good place. Its a hill station (Not too cold though) and about 230 km from BLR. The road is pretty decent and you will take about 4.5 hrs to reach there. Accommodation is available at Shevaroys, Sterling and Tamilnadu tourism.
