Any good eateries for veg lunch beyond Trichy or near Pudhukottai
I guess Aswin's near Perambalur might be a bit early for lunch considering 7am start

Hotel Gauri Parvathy Bhavan at Samayapuram, Hotel Sangeethas on Trichy bypass and Hotel Aishwarya in Pudukottai (inside the town) are options you can consider.

Hi,
Did a trip to Arandhangi on 11th and returned on 12th.
Started at 6:35 but had to pick another person from near Rajakilpakkam.
So, ended up taking the Tambaram - Chengalpattu route.

As usual it was full of college and other vehicles.
After a breakfast stop at Manoj bhavan Mamandur, continued on Trichy highway.
Although the number of diversions weren't many, beyond Tindivanam there were several places where road works was in progress, and hence vehicles were routed in a single lane
This significantly reduced speed especially when you end up tailing a truck in the front.

Took a short coffee break at A2B Ulundurpet, and once again in Pudhukottai.
NH336 from Trichy to Pudhukottai was very good, but beyond Pudhukottai I guess it was a state highway, surface was bad with multiple speed breakers.
Reached Arandhangi by 2:15.

On return, started by 1:15 in the afternoon, and reached Ulundurpet A2B at 5pm, after dropping someone at the Trichy railway station.

But beyond that got caught in heavy rains until Chengalpattu.
Could only manage speeds of 50 - 60 km/ hr during this entire stretch with parking lights On several times.

A 20 minute pile-up near Guduvanchery and another 10-minute delay near Perungalathur meant could reach home only by 9:40pm

Just returned from a Chennai-Trichy roundtrip. The 8 laned roads from Perungalathur to Singaperumal koil has a lot of potholes. The Chinglepet - Athur toll stretch was also bad. The NHAI operated toll booths at Paranur and Athur are very slow as they seems to be operated manually. The rest of the private tolls were a breeze and roads decent

Are Fastags being sold at any of the toll plazas in this route? Can I buy and activate one quickly, since my car has the PayTm fastag which is now defunct. I have to go in a couple of days and there is no time to buy online.

Also, how are the latest road conditions on this route?

There is one spot at Singaperumalkoil after the Peripheral ring road bridge. There are clear signages for it. I haven't done myself, but have seen this place everytime I cross.

Some bad sections on Urapakkam-Guduvancherry-Vallancherry and the odd pothole till Chengalpattu. After that there are 3 diversions, one immediately after Ulundurpettai bypass, one at Veppur (which has been there since Covid), one 3 km after Aswins.

Kooteripattu and Villupuram south bypass are done.

Thanks. Is it towards Chengalpet or in the opposite direction?

Yes towards Chengalpattu. Slow down after the WIP bridge, you should see the signage in the next km or so.

Thanks. I got it done this afternoon at a stall just beyond the Porur toll plaza on the Tambaram-Bangalore bypass road. Got an IDFC Fastag, entire process was done and dusted in two minutes flat and I recharged the Fastag through Gpay on the spot! Very impressive.

I got the number by Google and called, he told me to come over right away and off I went! Actually a line of stalls are there, for Fastags of various banks.

Hi everyone - is there any update on the status of the highway till Ulundurpet - in light of the recent flooding

The route RGK posted here is what I hear as the official detour from 2 different people who were headed to Madras.

Beyond Villupuram south bypass things were all clear even on Sunday night.

If Pondy-Cuddalore-Madapattu or Pondy-Cuddalore-Arasur is clear that should be your choice.

There were protests yesterday near Arasur, so that's something to check as well.

I am planning for the trip to Trichy this weekend. Can someone please update me on the status of the NH from Vikravandi till Ulundurpet? Is it motorable now?

Completed my trip to Trichy over the weekend. The route is almost back to normal except for a few damaged stretches on the diverted service lanes. Majorly the NH is fine. On our way back had lunch at Ashwins. As always, the food was very good.

Any updates about the route conditions between Tambaram and Tindivanam on this stretch after the recent rains? I need to drive to Pondicherry shortly.

The roads between Perungalathur to Chengalpet is riddled with potholes. The Palar bridge is full of potholes that holds up quite a bit of traffic during peak time. Between Mamandur to Madurantakam is not that bad. The rest of the roads is fine.
