See the BLR-Kannur thread.

Best option is : Mysore-Hunsur-Periyapatna-Siddapur-Ammati-Virajpet

In between Periyapatna-Siddapur about 10km of road is real bad but then other than thatm, its very nice.

I'am planing a trip from Chennai on April 12,13,14.Will be taking Mysore express and reaching Mysore around 8.00 AM.Planning to book a cab from Mysore for the next three days.please suggest a good cab service in Mysore? Is there any good place near Mysore railway station to refresh up before proceeding towards Coorg.

Please suggest some home-stays/resorts around talacauvery/bhagamandala locations. This is for a recently married couple, and the stay would be around 3-4 days and the budget would be around 2K/day for couple.

Hi JMaruru
I had once stayed at a place called "Sand Banks", Ammatti. Unfortunately i seem to have lost their phone number. Our family absolutely enjoyed the hospitality and food option, their place of stay and the surroundings at this place. If i get across their contacts, i shall send you a PM.

One other place i had stayed with my family is at "The Jade", at Kutta. This is very close to the Iruppu Falls and was really nice as well.

I am thinking of a weekend trip to Coorg. Request suggestions for some nice home stay. Here are the requirements.

Budget - Rs 5 - 6 K per night including food.

The idea is to spend time in the home stay. No site seeing planned. Hence it's okay to be far from Madikkeri but should be accessible by car. Authentic Coorg food must be provided.

Check Kadkani. It may be a bit higher on price, but an amazing place. Its not a homestay, but a resort. But since you get your own space, its almost like home.
AND the food has the right mix of homely elements along with rich tastes.

With rains, there may be offers.

Ambatty Greens,Palace Estate,Magnolia,Neemrana all should fall within your budget. The portals would have begun to offer you monsoon discounts by now.The Taj Madikeri is running at 10k currently a night.

How are the rains in south Coorg now? I would be heading out to Virajpet area for a couple of days in July first week. Anyone been that side of late?

Been to madikeri last weekend. It was raining over there.. But once you are down near kushal nagar and surrounding areas, the rains arent that frequent.

Planning a 3 day vacation at the Taj Vivanta Coorg.

Any update on the condition of the road from Mysore to Madikeri, and from Madikeri to the Taj would be welcome!

Been to Porcupine Castle, Pollibetta, Coorg over last weekend. Would highly recommend the place. Routes are a bit tricky to choose. I tried two different routes to/from periyapatna and none were very pleasent for drive.

If I were to drive from Vellore to Coorg, what should be the ideal route and how long should it take? People who've driven from Chennai can comment, I presume.

The best hassle free option :

Chennai-Krishnagiri-Hosur- NICE Road - Kanakpura exit-Kanakpura-Malavalli-Bannur-Mysore-Hunsur-Madikeri
Account for about 10-11 hours of driving. 4/5 hours for Chennai-Bangalore and another 4-5 for the rest.

Any updates on the rates at Taj? I don't see the 10k rooms on their website. My friend is looking for a ~6k per night resort.
