I went to Mantralaya 15 days back. Just follow NH 7 from Bangalore till Gooty and from there take the road to Mantralaya via Adoni. Till Gooty the road is excellent. From Gooty the road is quite good except fro small patches. Though single way, Nothing to worry as such. I left Mantralaya at 1.30 Pm and we were at the Bangalore aiprort junction on NH 7 at 6.30 PM in our Scorpio.

Thank you very much for the update and you have covered the distance in 5 hours with very good speed.:thumbs up
Around 2 months back I had been to Mantralaya
The road condition is very good all the way till Mantralaya Via Ananthpur-Adoni, Just a few here and there potholes after Adoni.
Some pics
Runway - Very well laid road

Between Gooty-Adoni
The only bad stretch for almost 400mtrs after Adoni
Break Inspectors :-):deadhorse

You can cover the distance in 5 hrs.
A Pic of the same, in I20. First 60kms(to cross BLR) we took 60mins.. the rest was amazingly fast
While returning we took Gooty-Bellary Road, a very very bad decision. One of the worst road I ever had to drive. It's in Pathetic condition

All the way from Bellary till Guntakal?
There are few bad spots between Adoni and Mantralaya but easily manageable.

@HVK, kindly excuse for my typo,
It should be read as
Adoni-Bellary. Whole of the route was in pathetic condition.
Thank you very much Sushrutha. You guys really rock:thumbs up.T-Bhp is the site i rely on while planning my outings.Glad to be part of a wonderful team.

Excellent roads till Gooty (NH). Gooty town is tricky. Road from Gooty all the way till Mantralaya is decent with occasional pot holes, but doable. (update as of Nov-10). Not many eateries option all along. Have a good darshan.

Hi prasad, thanks for the info.Do we have to pass through the gooty town to reach adoni?Or is there a bypass. If not how big is the gooty town to travel through and get back on the road to adoni? Are there direction markers?
Back from a trip to Mantralaya on Saturday. While going, I took the Bangalore-Chikkaballapur-Anantapur-Gooty-Adoni-Madhavaram-Mantralayam road. The road conditions are excellent till Gooty and from there it ranges from good to decent all the way to Mantralayam.
We reached Mantralayam early, finished the darshan by 12 pm and started our return journey by 2 pm. For the return journey, I wanted to try a different route and so took the Mantralayam-Adoni-Aluru-Bellary-Challakere-Hiriyur-Bangalore route. Mantralayam-Adoni-Aluru-Karnataka border is decent and good in patches. The road is narrow at some places, but nothing to worry about. Once you enter Karnataka state, you are greeted by a huge cut in the road. Bellary is about 30 kms from the border and almost 20 kms of it is pathetic. Plenty of mine trucks travel on this road to a steel plant nearby. :Frustrati
After Bellary, the road is good all the way to Bangalore. Upto Hiriyur, the road is 2 laned and in excellent condition. The sore point is that it has a lot of speed breakers. After Hiriyur, we join the NH4 and it is 4 lanes all the way to Bangalore.
One more thing I noticed is that the toll rates on NH7 are exhorbitant :Frustrati. It is just daylight robbery. Don't we pay road tax?

Thanks for the update. Is there a way to reach Panchamukhi (there was a temporary bridge of sorts and also that bowl shaped boats used to ferry people to the other side)? How was the weather?

We did not go to Panchamukhi as we heard that the bridge had broken down and was being repaired. Did not hear about any temporary arrangements though.
The weather was pretty hot by the time we reached there (around 11 am). But, I think it rained after we left. It was getting cloudy at that time. There were heavy rains between Aluru and Bellary though.
One more route that I can suggest is from Banglore - Veldurthi you can take the four lane then deviate to Kodumur.
From Kodumur-Yemminganur-Mantralayam roads are in good condition which I did 2 weeks back on the way back to Hyderabad.
I do not know the road condition between Veldurthi and Kodumur
Guys any update on the mud bridge across river tungabhadra on raichur side.We are planning to visit raichur after mantralayam and the shortest way to go is via this temporary bridge. Is the mud bridge in working condition despite these heavy rains?
