Sorry to bump an old thread, but just for general information, the new flyovers and road work done on NH8 between the toll naka for Gujarat and the vasai stretch is quite good. You can now complete the entire stretch from the Ghodbundher bridge (thane creek) to the toll naka after virar in under 20 minutes. Those flyovers at vasai, nalasopara, virar and naigaon really help.
Unless of course you want to fill petrol and have to get off the highway between vasai and nalasopara. I don't suggest you do that, it comes smack between the 2 flyovers for vasai and its a hazardous spot.
