Anybody have any idea about the road condition from Mysore to Hampi.
I am planning on Mysore - Nagamangala - Turuvekere - Hiriyur - Chitradurga - Kudligi - Hospet - Hampi. I know that the road upto Bellur is execellent. Need info on the rest of the road or any alternative routes.

BTW, i'll be driving a Esteem...

I am also planning a drive to Hampi by my Spark. As there were no responses to the OP so far, request details reg Route,road condition,rest rooms,Restaurants. enroute. Also any info regarding Hotel stay in Hampi is most welcome.

Some information based on my recent visits:

Route: One option is you can go to Chitradurga-Hospet-Hampi.

Chitradurga-Hospet is ok. The pot-holes were recently covered up. There is medium level of truck traffic on most part, but a little more in the last 20-25 km where the truck traffic increases a little more.

Chitradurga - Hospet - not much options for food.

Hotels in Hospet:
Budget but quite good: Hampi International / Swathi / Hotel Priyadarshini - @ 2500 per day. (Priyadarshini has two blocks, one old & one new. Prices in old block are lesser)

Star hotels - Krishna Palace, Malligi International & Royal Orchid Kireeti.

Try this route:
Mysore - Srirangapatna - Nagamangala - Nelligere - Huliyar - Hiriyur - C'Durga - Hospet

Reg breaks, Naveen Regency in C'Durga is fine. After that it is only dhaba's all the way upto Hospet.

I'm planning to do Mysore-Hampi, request route options and the food options with road status.

Which route did you take? Would really help to know the road and traffic condition.

Not sure of the route from Mysore, but we did Hubli - Badami - Hampi this December. This stretch is very smooth. minimal traffic and great roads.

My suggestion would be Srirangapatna-Hiriyur-Chitradurga-Hospet
