Several Reliance petrol stations and A1 Plazas are closed down, after they raised prices of petrol/diesel.

I remember seeing a lot of A1 Plazas along the way during my trip last year. Food is decent and not very pricey. Fuel quality is good, albeit pricey. Landmark for A1 Plazas are huge towers with the Reliance logo. Can be spotted from quite a distance.

Most of the A-1 plazas i uesd was only becoz of the clean toilets !!! Fuel is priced 4to 5 bucks expensive than the regular govt. owned pumps so hardly i ever could see anyone refulling hence there is a major shut down policy for these plazas . Even the food was a local affair the cooks were rounde from around and food was what s prepared locally . Few along nh-8 enroute ahemdabad are good but again never saw anyone refuling !!

Well you don't have Kamath Upachar all over the country do you. :-) Just kidding buddy. The A1's after Hosur on both sides of the GQ is heavily patronized. Just try going there on a Saturday morning or during holidays !!

You have to pay to use the bathrooms and lavatories. The toilets are free of cost. Food quality is decent.

Good concept undone by the fuel pricing problems.

I think all the A1 plaza's have the same layout.

Yes it is, I have had food in A1 Plazas in states like AP, KN, TN, WB, OR and have quite enjoyed the ambience there.

I agree, the Fuel prices are ruining the great concept in a big way.

Economic Times reports today that Reliance is shutting down all its own retail outlets - almost 1,400 of them - because they are unable to sell at the higher prices, and since the PSU oil companies are anyway committing suicide.

The article claims that dealer-owned outlets will continue to function - an empty claim since most of them are already shut down!

ET says that Reliance had gained a 14% market share in retailing, and after fuel price hikes, that came to almost nil. My own experience is that most Reliance petrol outlets have been shut down over the last 6 months.

But RIL says, "We will not sell our retail operations".

Where will we now go for clean toilets on the highways??!!!!

How very true. I have refuelled at Reliance A1 plaza a few times just because they have clean toilets and good ambience for a short break. I have seen cots etc at one of the A1 plaza's, probably for truck drivers?

Oh that's bad.Though I normally don't use the fuel because of it's high price but A1 plazas were quite refreshing during those long journeys. I hope someone else at least take over the A1 plazas and run them.

Perhaps the PSUs can take a leaf out of these A1 plazas and start them on the major highways across India. Very refreshing to be in one of them during long journeys. Clean toilets, good ambience and food (local flavor)

Yes. I too use the A1 ONLY for the ambience, clean environment. I usually have lunch / snacks in both A1 plaza (1 near sriperambathur and other near hosur) suring my chennai trips.
Are they closing all retail outlets? oh, Not a good news
