Las vegas - Grand Canyon route

I am flying to Las Vegas on Saturday and plan to rent a car and roam around Grand Canyon West rim and Hoover dam area.

I will be following google maps and GOS to get directions

Any particular places to see apart from usual touristy places?
Any particular precautions to take while driving?

I have driven quite a bit in US and am used to LHD.

Hey,

I dont have or really remember any useful information, but a few summers back 2 friends and me drove from SF > vegas > Grand canyon and onwards.

We went to the North Rim, which was supposed to be less "touristy" - and it was quite amazing!! We reached just at sunset and the colors were mindblowing. (Pics attached)

Even though it was the end of the summer, it was quite cold there (due to the elevation).

I will be in vegas in a few weeks (for the first time - last time we just drove through) so do let me know what the good stuff to do is!

A very quick vegas visit - consisted of driving down the stip.

There was a sign saying "no driving through meadow" ! Damnit! Almost like it read my mind.

@abhijitaparadh: There is a helicopter ride on offer at the Grand Canyon. They do a 15 minute trip in and around the Canyon. This is most definitely recommended and the views are outstanding. Costs around 150 buck though

Chopper ride

I did Phoenix-Vegas-Grand Canyon-Phoenix in February this year, not getting the time to pen it down

as for the chopper ride, there is one at Hoover Dam too, if u r coming from vegas then just before Hoover Dam on the left side there is a Casina (actually thats also the last casino on the way out)

these guys offer a ariel view from a quick chopper ride and charge as low as 30$

see pictures

Cheers
