Hyderabad-Talakona waterfalls (Chittoor)

Hello All

Has anyone done the Hyd-Talakona waterfalls near Horsley Hills(Chittoor) if so , what are route options we have . after some research, got 2 routes to go for

Route1:Hyd-Jadcherla-Kurnool-Gooty-Madanapalle-Talakona

Route2:
Hyd-Jadcherla-Kurnool-Nandyal-Cuddapah-Rayachoti-Talakona

our plan is to stay a day @ Saturday in Talakona and Sunday in Horsley Hills.

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I have done the first route , last year to horsley hills so no issues reg that one but is that the best route to go for Talakona?

Adios

Distance chart

Hyderabad-Jadcherla-Nandyal-Cuddapah-Talakona =553

1) Hyderabad-Jadcherla-Nandyal-Cuddapah-Madanapalle(Horsley Hills) = 521 KM

2) Hyderabad-Jadcherla-Kurnool-Gooty-Madanapalle= 530 Km

how is the road condition for both the routes?

has anyone done Hyd-Bangalore recently if yes then that would be the same route till Gooty, any update on conditions?

Back from the above trip

We took the Hyd-Jadcherla-Kurnool-Nandyal-Cuddapah-Rayachoti-Talakona to go to Talakona, till Kurnool NH7 - work under progress , if you are going in Night be extra careful, never go beyond 60 so that you are prepared for the sudden deviations or the speed brakers, after Kurnool the road is awesome, literally no traffic in the nandyal route, near Rayachoti there is a ghat section which is quite good to drive along.

While returning back as we had to come from Horsley hills took the second route

HorsleyHills-Gooty-Kurnool-Jadcherla-Hyd

This is great. I live in Bangalore and planning to visit Talakona and Horsley Hills and will check out these place soon. There are few long weekends in the 2nd half of this year. Btw, how are the road conditions from Kurnool to Hyderabad? Planning to drive in August to Hyderabad.

I am planning to drive down to Horsley Hills from Hyderabad and this information is pretty handy. Based on the inputs below, looks like there are 2 routes possible:

1) Hyderabad-Jadcherla-Nandyal-Cuddapah-Madanapalle(Horsley Hills) = 521 KM

2) Hyderabad-Jadcherla-Kurnool-Gooty-Anantapur-Madanapalle= 530 Km

Though route 1 seems to be shorter, every one seem to prefer route 2. Can some one tell the pros and cons? I am planning to start from Hyderabad around 5PM.

Buddy, the difference is only 9kms.

So in a way that is not a difference at all. Please use the route as confirmed by others, it can only save you from some bad roads, if any.

Distance is not different at all.
Not sure about option1 (NH18) - That is Hyd-Tirupati-Chennai route.
So should be pretty decent.

About option2 (NH7) - Here are the conditions
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/route-...condition.html
Most of the route is work in progress.
Since anyway upto Kurnool it is same stretch.

If NH18, there is no work in progress, it might be better.
But it might be std 2 lane highway, and even NH7 is like that, but it is being expanded to 4 lane. You can search for Hyd-Chennai travel queries and get state of NH18
