Alternative to Surat-Baroda highway

I recently drove from Delhi to Davanagere via NH8 / NH4 (http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/travel...-pune-run.html)

I remember the horrible Baroda-Surat stretch. Is there an alternative (and good) route for Delhi-Pune?

From Surat you have to come till Bharuch 75km atleast by NH8. From Bharuch you can leave NH8 and take a left to catch Jambusar Highway. Via Jambusar you can reach Vadodara. You will have to travel 90kw instead of 75 but the road is really good.

jambusar? the industrial area na?

where does that rejoin baroda?

From jambusar, it will connect to padra-atladra highway. You will reach to akshar chawk at the end of old-padra road. To go out of baroda again, you have to move towards makarpura GIDC before akshar chawk.
