Re: Bangalore to Belgaum (NH4) condition?

All,
Planning a Pune Bangalore trip in two weeks. I am thinking of starting around 2pm from Pune with stop over around 8PM? Is there any decent hotels close to highway near Hubli where I can stay with my family and proceed to Bangalore early morning? I guess I can even cross Hubli by then?? Please suggest.
Regards,
Sarin

NO hotels on the Hubli bypass, but you can enter HUbli city - at the Karwar Road exit - and stay in Hotel Ayodhya or Ananth Residency which are hardly 2-3 kms inside & accessible without any problems.

If you are entering Dharwad or Hubli, please be informed about speed limit. Most of the places its around 40 - 50 kmph.

Re: Bangalore to Belgaum (NH4) condition?

Folks

I am planning a trip to belgaum in December 2014. Got a few queries.

1. Latest toll charges between bangalore and Belgaum (Break up of toll)
2. Is Sankum Residency a good place to stay.

The reason i am asking these queries is that i need to evaluate if going by train is cheaper or going by car. I will be accompanied by my wife and 2 kids.

Finally, Did you go by Car or Train ?

If, by Car, then please update your trip with the details of your Stay & Drive.

Road all the way from Bangalore - Belgaum is either 4 / 6 lanes road. You should be able to maintain good average.

Drive a bit carefully on Hubli-Dharwad bypass. People tend to come head-on on blind stops, also even though they can see vehicle approaching from opposite side and pushing others to off-road or on shoulder lane.

There are couple of speed-breakers (donno remember the exact spots, you should find details if you search through the forum. Either this thread or Bangalore-Pune-Mumbai thread). Rest should be good.

Re: Bangalore to Belgaum (NH4) condition?

Bumping up this thread. I am planning for a visit to Belgaum next week for a wedding. Planning to start early morning next Tuesday and return the next day. Google suggests route as Blr->Tumkur->Chitradurga->Haveri->Hubli->Belgaum.

1. Is this the best route?
2. Any good restaurants on the way?
3. Any good hotels for stay at Belgaum?

Suggestions would be very helpful.

Re: Bangalore to Belgaum (NH4) condition?

1. Yes
2. Kamat (Sira), CCD (Sira), CCD (Gollarahatti), Apoorva Resort (Davangere), Dominos (Davangere), KFC (Davangere), CCD (Chattra), Kamat (Chattra), CCD (Shiggaon), McDonalds (Hubli), CCD (Dharwad). I have used Kamat (Sira), CCD (Gollarahatti), Kamat (Chattra), CCD (Chattra), McDonalds (Hubli). You can find many more if you look up the Bangalore-Goa thread or Bangalore-Pune-Mumbai thread.
3. I had stayed in Fairfield Marriott at Belgaum. I am also aware that there is a Royal Orchid but it is a bit far away from the city.
