I did Delhi-Jaipur-Jodhpur-Jaisalmer in a single run with just a 30min break in Jodhpur. Result was 13kpl. Enroute passed through a very nice staight road before Jodhpur with no traffic and trees with visiblity till horizon, tried the max speed on my car here for 3-4kms.

While returning we covered Jaisalmer-Bikaner-Jaipur in one night at relaxed 100kph, the road was almost empty and it was a very comfortable drive. My Elantra returned a FE of 17.5kpl. Stayed at jaipur the next day.

I really like this round trip concept otherwise the journey becomes boring on the same road. I liked the Bikaner route better, but i guess its longer.

Also need help on Route 2 - How to do Delhi to Fatehpur - am confused here
I too have the same query -- MapMyIndia shows Delhi-Fatehpur via Behror-Jhunjhunun is about 295 km whereas if one goes via Chomu-Sikar, then it is nearly 375 km. Which one is better? I want a comfortable ride and drive. It need not be faster, but should not be too much slower than the other route. I would be travelling in the last week of December, starting very early morning, around 3/4 am from Delhi (mentioning this, in case fog afftects the two routes differently).

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

For the Delhi - Fatehpur section - the route is
Delhi - Gurgaon - Dharuhera - Rewari - Ateli - Narnaul - Shinghana - Chirawa – Jhunjhunu – Mandawa – Fatehpur

Any one travelled recently on this route ? whats the road + traffic condition on this section

The best way to travel in Rajasthan is by the wonderful National highways. A search on net may get you a shorter route but believe me highways in Rajasthan are a pleasure to drive on.

Fatehpur onwards it is anyways mostly NH

Delhi - Fatehpur is what i need help on

Let me put it another way - 1 way i will be doing the Delhi - Jaipur - Jodhpur -- Jaisalmer via NH only
But would prefer Jaisalmer - Bikaner - Delhi on the way back or vice versa..

So Delhi to Bikaner is what i am looking for - via Fatehpur or not doesnt really matter

hello

The drive on NH 17 from Jodhpur to Jaisalmer is very good <i had been 5 days back the strect of almost 275 kms was covered by me in straight 3 hours in Innova average general speed was 120 km / hour.
there is a good place on NH!&,125 kms from jodhpur called Manvar resort its worth staying a night at the luxurious tent and worth enjoying the desert safari, camel ride and rajasthani food

No its NH114, and then NH15.

As per the route, the Ajmer-Jodhpur section was painful, with over an hours waiting in Ajmer.
So I am thinking this time I will take the Naguar-Phalodi-Jaisalmer route.
Last year we came back via Phalodi, and Nagaur-Phalodi section though broken in some parts enabled an easy 80-90 average. After Phalodi once you get to NH15, its a very good run.
I am however wondering, is there a direct route from Kishangarh to Nagaur?
Maps show NH89 from Ajmer-Pushkar-Nagaur, but on my last trip I recall signboards about new toll road which goes from Nagaur directly to kishangarh.
Anyone idea about this section?

Just reviving this thread rather than creating a new one.

I do this trip every year. Delhi to Jaisalmer. I generally go in Feb, and this year in Feb too i went. The roads are excellent specially after Bikaner, that road is to die for. But after the monsoon played it role this year, i am not sure what would have been the effect on the roads. In Feb, they were fine but not sure after monsoon. Let me know how was it when you go.

re: Delhi To Jaisalmer : Route Queries

So is the best route to Jaisalmer (from Delhi) through Jodhpur or through Nagaur/Phalodi?

You could try a night halt at Khimsar Village if you do not do a night halt at Sam dunes. It'(on the Jodhpur - Nagaur highway and they have 2 properties. I prefer the Khimsar Sand dunes.

I've already made the stay arrangements but wasn't sure of the fastest route to jaisalmer. As of now the plan is to take the jodhpur route.

Go via Jodhpur or through Bikaner. Latter a bit longer but definitely faster and quicker.

Delhi-Rewari-Jhunjunu-Fathepur-Bikaner-Phalodi-Pokharan-Jaisalmer.
