Honestly there is no missing traffic or bad roads or both on this route. My suggestion is to take Varandha ghat since Amba ghat is in shambles. Road till Varandha is manageable, ghat road is narrow but doable in the car. Mahad to Sawarde NH66 is in the best of the conditions except Chiplun town. Sawarde to Sangameshwar is manageable with diversions. Sangameshwar town itself is tricky due to bridge work in progress.
After Sangameshwar its usual konkan road till Ganapatipule.
If you start early from Pune, its doable in about 6-7 hours without any stops.
The best route from Pune to Ganapatipule is via Tamhini Ghat.
