Kolkata to Hyderabad

Hi,
I am planning a drive from Kolkata to hyderabad, can I get some details about the routemap, waypoints and some travel tips.

NH 5 / NH 60 are in Shambles,
Lookout for Latest , atleast two months old travelogues
for latest updates. forget about the road,Train services
in this route are not fully restored till Now.

Shrivz and I drove down from Pune to Kolkata via Hyderabad, Vizag and Puri around two weeks back.

The stretch from Kolkata to Vijaywada (NH6,5) is part of the golden quadrilateral. Apart from a stretch in Orissa near Balasore/Bhadrak (60 kms of the stretch took us 3 hours!), the roads were pretty decent. NH6 in AP is brilliant!

Vijaywada onwards, the highway is a 2 lane highway with a village after every kilometer. The road condition is decent. You will find it excellent after the Orissa patch!

Did you come via Baripada-Baharagorha or via Jaleshwar/Belda etc? What I mean is, is NH 60 open now? Sections of the road got washed out in July.

We weren't aware of the detour via Baripada-Baharagorha. So NH60 it was for us, and the highway was nowhere to be seen. It's a mess.

Haha welcome to the world of GPS. We did go on a boat ride from Chilka, but not that far!!

I thought the NH5 road portion from Tangi / Sunakhala to Berhampur (about 100 kms) was in shambles for the past few years. Is it 4-laned now?
