Pune - Malegaon - Indore - Ratlam - Bhilwara

Folks,

I have planned to take a two week vacation starting 2nd of October. The plan is to go to Ajmer, then Ahmedabad and return to Bangalore.

From Pune (for Ajmer), I have decided to take the route: Pune - Malegaon - Indore - Ratlam - Bhilwara. As I have never taken this route before, any information about this route will be helpful. I have following specific questions...

Pune - Malegaon: There are two options; Pune - Nashik - Malegaon, and Pune - Shridi - Manmad - Malegaon. Please advise.

Malegaon - Indore (NH3): How's the road condition for this stretch of NH3? Do I go upto Indore or can I take diversion to Dhar (some kilometers before Indore) and directly join NH79 for Ratlam. Please look at the attached map.

Indore - Ratlam - Chittor (NH79): How's the road condition for this stretch of NH79?

Any information for refuelling, motels will also be helpful.

Regarding Pune - Malegaon stretch,
Go by Nasik route. Ahmadnagar to Manmad is in pathetic condition with full of truck traffic. Road widening is also causing traffic jam on this road.

Did you do this trip? Which route did you take? How was the road condition upto Indore? I am looking at the Pune - Indore route for a December journey.
