hi aviator,
if you are planning to drive to dapoli via tamhini ghat,
i will suggest stick to nh17 upto khed.
goregaon-ambet-mhapral-mandangad-dapoli route is lonely road.
no food joints except at mandangad which is also okok. lot of twists and turns with not a single soul on road. if you got puncture in tyres, god bless you.
stick to nh17. you will be happy.

Planning to go to Dapoli this weekend need advice on the route

One of the route is

• Vile --- Nijampur --- Mangaon .You will reach NH – 17.
• NH – 17 --- Turn right at Lonere Phata --- Goregaon --- Turn left towards Purar / Nandavi.
• Purar --- Ambet --- Dapoli (After Ambet, follow sign boards till Dapoli).
• After Ambet follow sign boards to reach Dapoli.
(Road map: Pune - Chandani Chauk - Paud - Mulshi - Dongarwadi - Tamhini Ghat - Vile - Nijampur - Mangaon - Lonere Phata - Goregaon - Ambet - Mhapral - Shenale - Mandangad - Dapoli)

As suggested by ashish we can go to Khed on Nh17.

I am planning to drive down to Dapoli/ Murud/ Harnai on 22nd and come back on 24th of this month. I will be driving down from Mumbai.
I have 2 options to reach Dapoli,
NH -17 upto Lonere - Ambet - Mandangad - Dapoli or NH 17 upto Bharne Naka(Khed) - Dapoli.
Which one is better, I mean condition wise and safe.
Also any suggestions for stay in Murud - Karde - Harnai?

stick to route of bharne naka-khed-dapoli.

route condition via mandangad is not safe for lone driver.

i will suggest hotel kinara at karde.
nice rooms with reasonable rates.

I will be with my wifey, hence I will stick to the Khed route. I am planning to click some really nice photos of my GTX. Lets see how it goes!!!

Has anyone travelled through the Varandha and Tamhini Ghats (that connect Pune to NH 17)? I am planning to drive to Dapoli this weekend, and was wondering (post Monsoons) which road is in a better condition.

I tried hunting a place to stay for this weekend at Karde, but looks like most are still feeling the effects of Cyclone Phyan. I guess my trip will now be post-poned (again!) till next week-end when most hotels should be back on again.

pratapgad diversion to end of poladpur ghat has occasional potholes with somewhat rough patches.

indapur to murud janjira-well i am not aware about latest road condition.
murud janjira-kashid-alibaug-nice scenic seashore drive.
alibaug onwards-no problem.

I am planing to take the Pune - Dapoli route this saturday. Can someone please help with a good road. Considering that we have a baby on board, I would like to take up the route that would be comfortable for my baby.
