The road is in good condition except some small patchy parts which are very much manageable.
I did this route on 24th and 29th of Oct on my trip to Hyd-Goa-Hyd

I took the below route both ways

Hyderabad-Sholapur-Pandharpur-Sangola-Miraj-Sangli-Jaysingpur-kolhapur-Sankeshwar-Gandhiglaj-Ajra-Amboli-sawantwadi-Panjim.

Thanks to Avi(mobike008) for the route.

Some pics of the road near Amboli.

its simple.

mumbai-expressway-pune-nh4-satara-kolhapur-sankeshwar-right turn-gadhinglaj-ajra-amboli.

you will be on 4 lane upto sankeshwar.
sankeshwar to amboli is patchy road.
enjoy the monsoon and waterfall at amboli.

Magiceye,
Avoid staying in Amboli on weekends & tuesday if you are with your family.
There is a very heavy rush on these days now as its peak season in amboli.
With rush I mean the drunk crowd.

Hi Sahir,
Will be going on sunday and returning on tuesday. Had planned on these days to avoid the weekend crowds. Hope it should be ok. But why is it crowded on Tuesday?

Tuesday is the holiday in Belgaum for allmost all bazars including shops etc. many travel to amboli for a day out.
That is why it crowded there.

Hi guys,
I remember reading somewhere that there are traffic jams due to people parking/crowding at the waterfalls. These popular waterfalls are on the sawantwadi-amboli route or ajra-amboli route? Would like to know as we are going on a sunday and returning on tuesday.
Thank you

Thank you
two witerfalls are either side of amboli.
the famous waterfall in the ghat is on amboli sawantwadi road[ @3 km from amboli].
second waterfall, i.e. nagartas waterfall is on amboli-belgaum road[ @8 km from amboli].
points to see
1] waterfall in the ghat
2] mahadevgad point
3] shirgaonkar point[ if you are interested drive upto choukul after shirgaonkar point.
4] kavaleshet point[ don't miss this best point]
5] hiryankeshi point. beautiful point
6] nagartas waterfall.[ fall to just see, nature's wonder]
7] sunset point in the ghat.

as mostly you will visit these points on monday, i don't see any problem with traffic and crowd.

Ashish,
Thank you so much. Went through your travelogue yesterday and noted down all the details about amboli.
Had asked about the popular waterfalls is because we will be reaching amboli on sunday and dont want to get stuck on the ghats due to the crowds. Had read somewhere that it often happens on sundays and holidays.

Hi!
Did Panjim-Sawantwadi-Amboli-Ajra-Kolhapur-Pune-Mumbai day before yesterday, and the road is simply awesome, except for a 5 km stretch that has a few potholes. Im posting the pics here.
