Did this stretch as recently as on 3rd October. Road is much better now. Sedate driving without any breaks should take 7 hours to complete NGP-HYD (Buti Bori to Medchal). Aggressive driving may make it possible in 6.5. And once the stretch is done, it should be doable in 6 hours.

PS: Above times purely based on staying within 100kmph, which is the speed limit on this road.

We left Haldiram's Planet Food, Shankar Nagar Square, Nagpur at 11:30 am and reached Medchal Jawaharlal Nehru ORR at 6:30 pm with a 45-minute break en route for lunch, packed from Haldiram's.

re: Hyderabad to Nagpur : Route Queries

Guys, I drove from Hyderabad - Nagpur on Fri Oct 30th in my Creta SX(O). The road condition between Adilabad - Pandharkawada - Hinganghat is surprisingly improved with almost no potholes. We were three friends visiting Tadoba, Umred, and Bor Wildlife Sanctuaries over the weekend. We started from Hyderabad at 3:30am and reached Somalwada, Nagpur at 9:45 am with 45 min of all breaks including 7:00 am breakfast break in Pandharkawada.

Drove back from Nagpur on Sunday 9:45 pm and reached Home @3:30am.

Amazing road conditions and of course brilliant driving experience of Creta SX(O).

And Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve trip was successful too - stayed around Kolara gate; sighted Chhoti Tara on Saturday morning @6:30 am and spent close to 2 hours during her 3.5 km royal cat walk between Hills Top to Jamuni village trail.

Couple of pictures...

re: Hyderabad to Nagpur : Route Queries

Did Hyderabad-Nagpur-Jabalpur and back for Diwali...

1. Hyderabad to Adilabad -> Perfect as usual
2. Adilabad to Pandharkwada -> Two lane but no potholes.. lot of diversions though...
3. Pandharkwada to Hinganghat -> A "No-Pothole" but minor bumpy as road has started to wither a bit ..
4. Hinganghat-ButiBori-Nagpur -> Smooth Stretch.

On an average roughly 6-6.5 hrs for Hyderabad to Nagpur with 20 min break is achievable comfortably.

I was in Tadoba the same time

I did a solo Bangalore - Tadoba - Ranthambore - Bangalore roadtrip end of Oct.

For folks who are interested in heading up North from Nagpur:

Nagpur - Lakhnadon: the MH stretch is much improved. I always take the Nagpur Bypass, so not aware of how the route through Nagpur city is. A few potholes in the MP stretch just after the border, but nothing too bad.

Lakhnadon - Jhansi - excellent route.

Jhansi - Shivpuri: excellent 4 lane road.

Shivpuri - Sheopur - Sawai Madhopur: lovely route passing through the forest. I decided to experiment with this route, glad that I did. The Rajasthan stretch till Sawai Madhopur is not that great, the roads passing through the forest are broken.

A couple of Tadoba shots. Will write a travelogue when I have some time.

Thanks Buddy. Just to add about the diversions - the diversion signboards are consistently available, good quality, and are placed with high visibility. The photoluminescent boards helped from long distance specially when I was driving thru' the night during return journey.

Yup forgot to mention those, helped a lot during night time...but at a diversion or two I felt the bushes have overgrown and sign board not visible clearly

Lots of nice dhabas. I like them better than the urban-influenced eating joints.

I have never had a stomach upset eating in these places. And food is delicious. Proper panju isshtyle.

Re: Hyderabad to Nagpur : Route Queries

Did the Hyderabad - Nagpur stretch last week, as a part of my drive to central India. As someone already pointed out on the thread, the bad stretches around the TS-MH border have improved a lot. As of now, these 2 stretches of ~22 kms each have been resurfaced to a great extent and one can cruise at 70-80 kmph through the most part. Other than these, the only remaining pain is the railway crossing at Hinganghat. I was able to do Medchal (Hyderabad RR exit on NH7) to Nagpur RR start in About 5.5 hours, which should come down to 5 hours once the entire stretch is 4-laned. It does lack good (read family-friendly) eating joints though!

Hope this helps!

Re: Hyderabad to Nagpur : Route Queries

Did the Hyderabad-Nagpur route twice in the last six days on my Nanook.

First time during night hours while going from Baloda Bazar to Hyderabad, a distance of 890 kms and second time on my return yesterday which was an early morning drive.

As already pointed out the Hinganghat-Adilabad stretch is much better and is no longer a bone breaker. It is bone shaker though but i did not find much work going on for four laning.

Was able to comfortably do the Hyderabad-Nagpur stretch in 6 hrs.

Hi all,
We are planning trip from Hyderabad to Bhilai coming long weekend.

It would be good if anyone can tell how the road conditions are between HYD to Nagpur and then Nagpur to Bhilai?

Thanks,
Niel
