I am planning to attend a marriage of my best friend which is in happening in Pudhukottai on 7th dec 08. I am planning to travel by car. So i need all your help please: in getting some important information

1. Best Route from Bangalore to Pudukottai (Bangalore - Hosur - Krishangiri - Kaveripattinam - Dharmapuri - Salem - Trichy - Pudukottai)
2. Good Hotels on the way to pudukottai
3. Good lodges in Pudukottai
4. Good fuel pumps
5. Time to travel
6. Places to see in and around pudukottai

I am planning to leave on saturday early in the morning (6th Dec 08)

[2. Good Hotels on the way to pudukottai] - Hote Maya International in Chathiram Bus stand, Trichy is good.
[3. Good lodges in Pudukottai] - no idea
[4. Good fuel pumps] - Trichy has a TVS company running petrol pump on the byepass near to Trichy - Tanjore road.
[5. Time to travel] - Perferably Day time due to the heavy lorry traffic from Krishnagiri - Salem - Namakkal.
[6. Places to see in and around pudukottai] - 1. Siddanavasal - A jain's art scripts which is atleast 1300 years old, 2. Avoodaiyar Koil - 1000 years old shiva temple, 3. Thirumayam Fort and Vishnu temple, 4. Pudukottai Fort (now govt offices are running on these buildings)., 5. Malaikottai in Trichy, 6. Grand Anicut in Trichy and lot more places.

Thanks a lot Subbu. Any idea how far is Rameshwaram from Pudukottai?How much time would it ideally take to reach Pudukottai from Bangalore. I will be driving a Honda Accord automatic with my entire family. How are the roads after krishnagiri? Last time when i travelled some 2 years ago they were under construction. Any idea how they are now?

Roads till Salem are good almost 90% 4 laning is done. Salem to Trichy is in progress. Expect lot of deviations.

Btw, there was very very heavy rains in Trichy the last 3 days. Road conditions which were not good anyways because of 4 laning could have deteriorated. Watch out.

Around 130 kms from Pudukottai to Ramanathapuram and around 50 more kms from there to Rameswaram, via Karaikudi and Devakottai. Roads are normally good, but no idea whether the ongoing rains have damaged the roads. If roads are good, you could reach Rameswaram in under 4 hours. NH49 is also reported to be in a bad shape - i.e. teh road from Ramanathapuram to Rameswaram.
