Called up the MC Resort, got another contact Mr. Manjo. If anyone also trying do get there, I can send the mobile no. on PM.

He has following things to offer.

Rs. 1600 per person and Rs. 800 for child.

Which includes Lunch, Dinner, Breakfast, Campfire, Evening safari for 2.5 hours and [ Night Highway safari / Morning Trekking ]. Manish (my friend) may not be able to do the Morning trekking; as planning to leave Bandipur early morning to Madurai. So so he agreed for Night Highway safari.

------

Other option is Rs. 800 per room for double occupancy.
No food. ?? Did they cost you extra for food?

Government Jeep safari is 40 mins. Rs. 2000 for 6 persons.

[just FYI, they also offered A/C suite, for 2500 per person.]

When we stayed last year, we were charges Rs 750 / room. We paid extra for food. You also have the option to go Jungle Lodges a km back and other restaurants and resorts for food and snacks.

I think you better stick to Rs 800 / room option. If you want safari better take safari from madhumalai side and not from here. Not worth.

Hope the following travelogue also helps:

Thanks Abhi sir, Will do that only. will look for the forest department Jeep / van from Mudumalai. Or will ask if only addition of the Jeep safari how much he will charge. Drop the Night Highway safari may not see anything during night and Campfire.

If left early from Bandipur 7 AM, is it possible to make upto Rameshwaram in evening?

Assuming no stops other than food and fuel.

It will tough infact impossible atleast via Ooty, mettupalyam through ghat roads. You can reach only by midnight.

If you are that urgent then you can try the Gundulpet - nanjangud - Satyamangalam route via Dimbam ghat to Annur, may be you can save some time. But reaching in evening can be tough. I will suggest you to avoid hills and scenic drive if you are in a hurry to reach Rameshwaram. Better take the plain route.

Annur - Karumattampatti - Somanur onto NH67 then onto Pollachi and on.

Actually you can,

Bandipur to Ooty - 3 hrs
Ooty to Coimbatore - 2.5hrs
Coimbatore to Madurai - 5.5 hrs
Madurai to Rameswaram - 3 hrs (done several times)

In 14 hours you can reach Rameswaram, under normal conditions. which means if you leave at 7 am, you can be there at 9 am.

But traffic in Madurai - Rameswaram leg will be heavy (upto Manamadurai) and its advisable for a person new on that roads to travel before 7:00 pm. The trucks with sand will be on a break neck speed on those roads.

Very aggressive timings, because of possible delays:

Ooty to Coimbatore in 2.5 hours - I have done even in bike - but can be difficult at peak morning hours (when our friend will take that section).

Navigating Coimbatore city can take easily 30 minutes for someone who is not familiar with the city. Add that extra 30 minutes, even after assuming you reach the city in 2.5 hours from Ooty.

NH49 from Madurai to Rameswaram is in a very bad condition right now - lots of pot holes - and a friend took almost 5 hours 3-4 days ago.

And all this without any breaks for food, which can add at least 1-2 hours extra.

For stay in Munnar:
Following are the once, I found on internet.

1. SN Tourist home, which also Kumar sir suggested.
2. Westwood Riverside
3. Highrange Inn,

What is expected from hotel is a nice stay / hotel service to be good.
Which one is good for a family stay? Can you please help?

I heard the hotels are getting erased / partly demolished out if present in the Tea estate alloted area.

Thanks Kumar sir,
The number has changed as they introduced 2 in between.
S N Tourist Home: 04865 - 230212
SN Annexe : 04865 - 232022.

Called up both of them and both are reasonably priced. So will decide on one of them.
