Poorna Sir,
Yes, it's just for an overnight stay on the way to trivandrum. He has postponed his trip to next week, so please do give me suggestions on a hotel to stay overnight at Dindigul.
And Thanks for your other recommendations, will be useful for my next trip to that side.

Re: A thread on Accomodation & Rates?

Need some pointers from fellow T-BHPians for decent accommodation(3 days) in Mudumalai (near Theppakadu preferably). Accommodation is for family, so security is important. Also, secure parking space is required.

I usually stay at Sivabaghya near Arapalayam bus stand in Madurai. It takes about 20-25 min in traffic to get from Theni exit of Samayanallur-Kappalur bypass to this place. Off-peak times would be much better. Its an ok-ish place to stay for a night. Its about 100 m from Arapalayam bus stand towards NH7.

Actually from Poorna's list, Double Dutch is quite reasonable, the place i say comes to 1000-1500 per night.

Ankan,

As far as I know , the wildlife sanctuary is called Mudumalai and Masinagudi is the base town. Theppakadu is a place closeby. Most resorts are situated in Masinagudi. Traveling around with your vehicle is very good and is enjoyable.

May be the following link will be of help to you. Use this link for information purpose only. For booking use other leading travel portals or directly with the resort.

Tamilnadu - Jungle Lodges and Resorts - Masinagudi / Mudumalai, Topslip, Dindigul and Kodaikanal

Stay options in Chidambaram?

Any suggestion for stay options in Chidambaram? Need to visit main temple very early morning and hence stay preferred to be in Chidambaram only.

And suggestions for a half-day (after break-fast till lunchtime) or full-day (after break-fast till about 6 PM) tour around Chidambaram in case time permits?

Ajith ,

Not sure about hotels.

Visit Pichavaram, its about 30 - 45 min drive from Chidambaram. Boating is a must in the mangrove forest. Will be a different experience.

This is one place which I am aware about:

Hotel Saradharam

And as Marlon said, a boating at Pichavaram is a must.

Ajith,

I am not aware of hotels in Chidambaram. Ampere has given a lead.

You will not take more than an two hours to explore temple. After that you should visit mangorve filled backwaters in Pichavaram which is closeby. It is really nice. This article on Pitchavaram in Hindu also gives options for stay in Chidambaram.

The Hindu : Paddle about Pichavaram

Also can visit the fort and beach in Cuddalore which is closeby. You can also visit famous temples at Shirkazhi as well which is closeby.

Re: A thread on Accomodation & Rates?

Can I request for hotel suggestions.

Trichy, Rameshwaram, Madurai -With parking space for my Civic. Near the temple complex if possible, but not an overriding condition.

Munnar - A hotel with space, 4-5 kms within city, should have large enough room for our family of 2 + 2.

Trichy : Hotel Ramyas (yes, they have parking) - I have been staying here since 2005.

Madurai : Parking could be a problem near the temple; but try Madurai Residency - request them to park your car just outside the hotel - do NOT use their basement parking.

Munnar - I have details only about Sterling / Club Mahindra - both have excellent parking.

Rameswaram : Not so good, but parking is available near the temple.

PS: Mine is a Civic, too.
