1. To start Saturday morning at around 5 - 5.30 and have breakfast on the way to Vellore via Krishnagiri.Halt at a hotel in Vellore. Visit Sripuram temple.

Good time to start. You can try breakfast on Chinnur Adyar Ananda Bhavan. Usually they start the BF by 6:30.
Also, as Sowmya mentioned, you do not need to go all the way to Vellore to get to the temple. You have several entries. You can take the one that leads to Airport. I assume that road should be good. Please update us on your arrival on this.

2. May be stay at the hotel for the night or reach Kanchi that day itself depends on my/family condition to drive that day. If its all OK reach Kanchi that day itself and halt at a lodge.

3. Visit 4 famous temples in Kanchi and leave Kanchi at around 1-1.30 pm to Bangalore via Krishnagiri.

Kindly advice on the plan above and suggest good hotels(VEG only) and staying places at Kanchi.

THanks,
Ramki.
The best would be the Saravana Bhavan. Its near Theradi. Nice foods.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all the info. Their is a slight change in plan!
I'm not travelling by car, instead after taking suggestions from my Mom, now travelling by bus on Friday night!
Now the plan is to go to Kanchi first visit the temples, halt at night at Kanchi and the next morning go to vellore visit sripuram and return to bangalore on the same day!

One Q though. Is Saravana Bhavan (Kanchipuram)also has accomodation? A collegue of my mom said so, is it so? Is it good to stay?

THanks,
RAmki.

There is one hotel attached to Sarvana Bhavan , I mean in the same building. Last time I stayed there (In May 2008) they charged 900 for double bed AC. It is very comfortable. I dont remember it's name though.

Folks - is it good to visit the Vellore (Sripuram) Golden Temple on a long weekend like the one tomorrow?
I've heard it gets pretty badly crowded. Is that true?

I am also interested in this info. Planning to drive to Sripuram and back tomorrow. Would like to be back in Chennai before dark. What would be the ideal time to start? My speed would be around 70 - 80 KPH only. Please let me know the road conditions, tricky spots, good veg eateries etc., as I have never driven on this road beyond Sriperumbudur.

Hi Sir,

It is once again back to travel. If you did not go yesterday, here is the information,You required. I am planning to visit next week. Not yet decided whether on Saturday or Sunday. I am a regular visitor. I always start at 6 am. I take the road depend on the instant plan. Some times I go through Kanchi with the dharshan of Kamakshi and Ekambarar. I finsh the Dharshan and break fast before 9 am. The road I take is Padappai Walaja Road to Kanchi. From there I take the By pass Road. From Sathuvachey I take Vellore town road through CMC, Fort to Sripuram a matter of 30 minutes drive. So far I had the dharshan with in an hour. I come back to Saravana Bavan and take lunch or tiffin. From there if time permits, I visit Rathnagiri temple. Some time I skip that and visit Rajiv Memorial. It depends on the interests of my guests or family members. From Sriperumbudur I take the Kundrathur Road which diverts from MGR Statue in Sriperumbudur. From Kundrathur I take the road to Pammal but before Pammal take right from there and take left in that Triuneer malai Chrompet road and cross through Balaji Medical college MIT bridge to home. My late reach to home was 7.30 PM. If I skip Kanchi I take kundrathur road to and fro. It is a traffic free road.
