Kanchi shopping

I have to go to kanchi with my parents and relatives, totally around 6 people. We will leave from bangalore. We will stay one day and return. And there is also plan to visit Tirupathi while returning.

Can anyone kindly suggest the best mode of travel?
Which are the good hotels to stay there?
Will hiring taxi be a better plan or travel by bus?
Where is the best place to shop for sarees?

Please advice.
