Mangalore to Madikeri route is in very good shape now. The stretch between Mangalore and Puttur(to be precise, BC Road to Mani) was in terrible condition. The stretch has been resurfaced/repaired completely as recently as last week.

Kundapura has the usually popular Shetty Lunch Home for Sea food. You may want to give it a try.

Also, Ankola to Mangalore is mostly good 4 lane except Kumta where there is some work in progress. You will enjoy this stretch of the road for sure.

Hi guys,
Planning to do a Mumbai - evolve back (coorg) - wayanad - Mumbai trip next week. Google shows a route direct route via NH48 closer to bengaluru but here everyone seems to prefer the Mangalore udupi route? Just wanted to know if any specific reasons for that.
Another question is, I want to reach evolve back by Friday evening but can only leave around 4 due to work. would this be feasible at all or the jungle drive and road surface warrant a daylight drive only?
