Route to Bangalore from Kochi thro' Mysore

I am planning to drive from Kochi to Bangalore during this month end or first week of march.

This time i want to take the road through mysore. i.e. i want to avoid the normal Kochi -> Palakkad -> Coimbatore -> Mettur -> hosur -> Bangalore road. Reason being, I am bored of the regular trip on these roads. Along with that i want to see the real power of my new Verna CRDi.

Please let me know which all other options I have. I dont mind driving a bit more if it gives me a nice drive.

If anyone has done a recent trip on this road, please let me know the road conditions and any landmarks possible as this will be the first drive in that way.

from mysore you can go through Nanjangud-Chamrajnagar-Sathyamangalam-Coimbatore route or if you want to avoid your regular route completely you can take Mysore-Nanjangud-Gundulpet-Gudalur-Malappuram-Ponnani-Kochi or slightly longer route via Gundulpet-Sultan Bathery - Kozhikode.

From cochin - kodungaloor - Thrissur - Pattambi - pernthalmanna - nadukani churam - mudumalai - mysore - bangy

Thats the best in terms of kilometers , also for a pleasure drive as well.

Here you cover 3 states , ooty can also be clubbed uits just below 40 kilometers from the elephant santuary(TN)

Once you enter the Karnataka the road condition is bad for a while.

But beware of the night halt in the check posts!

Route has ghat sections between Gundulpet & Nilambur.Shortest in terms of time would be the NH7-NH47 combo,all other routes would take more time as you need to drive through the ghats.But yes,roads are better off as compared to the Calicut(kozhikode)route and more scenic.
