Travelling to Kodaikannal, Need suggestion on STAY !!

Hello Bhpians

As we have an extended weekend coming up ( This friday being a holiday in B'lore ) me and two other friends of mine have decided to head towards Kodaikannal for the weekend.

We plan to leave bangalore early this friday and return back by sunday evening.

After going through several threads in team-bhp we have decided to take the following route:-

Bangalore-Dharmapuri-Toppur-Bhavani-Perunthurai-Chennimalai-Gangeyam-Dharapuram-Palani-Kodai.

As this is the first time most of us are travelling to Kodai, we really have no idea about the hotels and resorts. We would prefer any hotel/resort a little away from the hustle and bustle of the town and would prefer a place which is close to nature. As we are all guys and intend to spend most of the time outside the hotel we really are not in the look out for a high end hotel. Google has given me a list of hotels but i would prefer suggestions from Team-Bhpian's any time...so guys over to you....

PS: Mods i intend to update this thread with the trip log once i am back but if you feel the need to merge this post with an existing thread, pls feel free to do so

Since you are not going to spend most of the time in hotel, try out SPIC Guest house. Call the Incharge at 9442116695. Decent rooms at cheap prices.

I stayed at a place called Villa Retreat. Small place closed to Coaker's Walk. Not a great place I would say, but OK with decent pricing. And we enjoyed food at all other places, whenever needed !

Hey, I'm heading there too this weekend. I think it's OK to ask for directions to Croaker's walk to locate the hotel, right, since it says that it's close to this?
BTW, tell me about your route also, please.

I went by train to Kodai road and had the hotel guys arrange for a pick-up
No drive ! This was two years backs. It is the Mysore Tutocorin express, which drops you at Kodai road early in the morning. I was not a driving enthusiast in those days, who could undertake about 500 km. Maybe I can do so now !

About the hotel: It is just left of the Coaker's Walk entrance.
