Recently moved to Mysore and need to know a few things
1. Where do I catch this bus in Mysore? There are 2 bus stands here
2. Do you have to make reservations?

Though I haven't used this service, they are called Flybus, they are listed on KSTRC site an you can book the tickets online to guarantee the seat. i guess they all start from the main bus stand. for e.g

Thanks but the KSRTC website is extremely user unfriendly. EG from field when I type Mysore I get Mysore Infosys campus. Then when I type KIAL it says this

I agree, the site is unfriendly, try the app.
Also, there are no buses from Mysore Infosys campus to KIAL. best thing is dont type the whole source/destination name, just type first three characters and let it display all options.
Try that, I just tried with MYS and BANG, then select from dropdown suggestions and it works well. I practice this in most of the sites for Bus/Train/Flight bookings.

Another option you can think of is to take bus to Bangalore, and from Majestic take the airport BMTC. May end up a bit longer than direct bus, but you will have more options and no constraint on start time.

Took the flybus this afternoon from Mysore to KIAL. Super convenient, 3 hours and 700/-. Started at 1545 from Suburban bus station, was at Manipal junction at 1600, Nice road at 1720, orr Tumkur road mayhem at 1800, and KIAL at 1845.
Driver took the flybus name too seriously literally. Used his air horn and lights to part traffic like Moses parted the Red sea.
Booked online but not really required as only about 15 passengers on board.

3hrs to KIAL from Mysore suburban bus stand is impressive. There are times when it takes similar duration to reach KIAL from within Bangalore

3 hours from Mysore to KIAL... Impressive. Looks like the driver used the metro rail track for driving inside Bangalore. For me to reach KR Puram from Bidadi itself takes 2 hours almost.

And regarding the 700/- fare from Mysore - KIAL, Ola or uber from KR Puram to KIAL is around 1000 bucks.
