Route 4 for the best possible roads.

I'd go through route 1 and come back through 4

Route 2 (varanda ghat) for drive thrill.

- Route #4 has 1 of the 8 Ganpati temples in Maharashtra (Ashtavinayaks) at Pali.
- Route #2 offers majestic views of all Raigarh, Rajgarh and Torna forts (I donot recollect location, but it is few kms after crossing the only food stalls while coming towards Pune

We are driving in 2 cars(swift dzire and indica) with 3 kids and 7 adults in total, still confused on which route to take on.

Drove Pune to Diveagar on 10-Oct

Total distance 220km, route was overall good.

Pune Sinhagad road - Mumbai Pune Bypass Rd - Mumbai Pune Expressway - Lonavala exit - back on expressway after Khandala(small stop at Khandala) - Khopoli exit from expressway - Pali - NH 17 - Mangaon - Mhasla - Diveagar

Planning trip to Diveagar again.
I stay in Nigdi. The route I took for earlier trip was through Chandni Chowk - Pirangut - Paud etc.
Has anyone tried the alternative route that goes through Hinjewadi Phase 1-Maan to Paud.
If the route is good. It will save me time to go to Chandni Chowk and then to Paud. please advise.

I took the Chandni Chowk to Paud route recently. I is absolutely fine.

Alternative is to take the Khopoli exit on expressway (refer post above yours). Longer but will take about the same time.

I'd advise against taking the Hinjewadi route. I's not in very good shape at all from what I understand.

Thank noopster, I will take the chandni chowk - paud route through Tamhini ghat to Diveagar.
Not so keen on the khopoli route.

I drove on the Tamhini ghaat route recently. Don't pay the toll at Pirangut, it is a bogus toll naka. Just roll ahead

The Tamhini ghaat is in good condition except some 1.5-2 kms where you have to roll at 10-20kmph if you care about the car. Rest route is fine.

I tried the Hinjewadi route since I got up late.
The route is good except for the last 4-5 kms. I took road from wakad phata to Megapolis and then took right on the road towards . The route is peaceful except for the last 4-5 kms (After Bhar phata) where you really slow down.

Hello Folks ,
The missus insists on driving somewhere in "Konkan" for a few days soon. Is the following feasible :
Pune->Diveagar. Stay for a day. Diveagar->Alibaug. Stay. Alibaug->Pune.

What is the current condition roads from Pune->Diveagar via Tamhini ghat ? And how is the route from Diveagar to Alibaug ? Any routes that my Swift may not be able to handle ?
Any stay recommendations ?

PS : Inspite of what Home Minister has ordered, I am skeptical of doing this whole drive in the Monsoons.

Agree with you. No doubt the drive till Konkan will be heavenly due to the lush greenery everywhere, but if you're going there for the beaches, then it'll be a damp squib. You can find some alternatives here:

Avoid Tamhini. I returned from Shrivardhan last week. Whole of Tamhini ghat is in horrible shape. Stones and potholes. Cannot cross 20

+1 to Heman. Heard from a friend (returned from Dapoli on Sat) that the road between Mulshi dam and MIDC (Raigad dist) is non-existent...

Hi Heman_369, thanks for your update. I am planning on visiting Harihareshwar in the first week of August.
Can you also please tell us what route you took from Shrivardhan to Pune and if the entire road was torn up or only some sections were bad.
