Bangalore-Pondicherry : Best route to take?

Hey need some info on the best routes to Pondy

Bangalore - Krishnagiri - Samalpatti - Uttangarai - Chengam - Thiruvannamalai - Ginjee - Tindivanam - Pondi

I reckon the route remains the same, as the older travelogues. It is just that an update would be great. I hope the roads have taken the turn for the better. Hopefully.

I dont know much but wouldn't it better to go on the GQ and then divert to pondi?
Or the route mentioned is the GQ one!
