Bangalore - Tuticorin

Hi,
I need to drive down to Tuticorin from Bangalore this Friday. Can people pitch in with their route suggestions and road condition updates? Would highly appreciate helpful inputs.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers
Jagan

I would suggest to take NH - 7 through Hosur, Krishnagiri, Salem, Karur, Dindugul, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Sattur, Kovilpatti and from there go to Tuticourin. 4 laning till Thoppur has been completed. From there to Madurai, work is on. Madurai to Kovilpatti section 4 laning has been completed.

This route is direct one & the other route mentioned is of Thirunelveli road. Madurai-Kariapatti-Aruppukotai-Pandalkudi-Ettayapuram-Tutikorin. Patches of bad sector of roads near junctions, but overall roads were well laid. Take care of vehicles coming in wrong directions & if you get a chance to move to left side road at a divider opening, do not hesistate to get into that ( do not except diversion boards to be in place)

+1 to that.
4 laning is almost complete with few exceptions like bridges, culverts etc.

Thanks everybody for inputs! the drive went off smoothly. But it was a long one on the way back, due to nonstop rains between Dindigul and Salem. Both routes to Tuticorin from Madurai are good. However, the stretch between Kovilpatti and Ettayapurm is not great. Hopefully the Salem - Madurai stretch should be ready soon. Would really make driving to South Tamil Nadu a breeze.
