Planning to drive from Chennai to Tirunelveli. I think I can reach Trichy in 4.30
Hours. How is the road codition beyond Trichy? How far the four lane is completed beyond Trichy? How much time will take to cover upto Tirunelveli?

thanks

After Trichy, you will be on a single road for just few kms before you get into the bypass divided road. From there upto Thirunelveli roads are fine. Last I traveled was before a month.

Have an eagle eye on (divider) openings to get into the left lane, in places where you were diverted to right lane due to some work (on left lane). I have done this mistakes of missing out few times and shocked to see that Iam in wrong lane. Also watch out for vehicles (esp.heavy) coming in opp direction taking wrong side

Edit: Approximately around 8.5 -10 hrs depends on the time of start/driver/stoppages :)

Great roads, but a few bridges & culverts not yet over , can do good speeds but watch out for vehicles coming on your lane.
Just did a long trip last week, Bangalore-Tirupati-Kanchipuram-Navagraha circuit-Tanjore-Trichy-Madurai-Tirunelveli-Sabarimala-Bangalore

Was on the road in that neck of the woods not very long ago Kanyakumari to kodaikanal - really nice roads, traffic not too bad. Could easily cruise at 120 kmph and more but for complete lack of signage when there's a diversion coming up. And, there were many of those! Resulting in all sorts of traffic coming at you in the fast lane. Or, resulting in your having missed out the left back into your own and correct side. Pedestrian traffic and two wheelers scooting across was also a problem.
