Hi folks,

I am planning to travel on 30th (6/30) early morning to Bangalore from Mangalore after taking delivery of my new Ritz VDi. I would like to know which is the best route for travelling now, here are the choices,

1) Mangalore - Shiradi Ghat - Shakleshpura - Haasan - Kunigal- Magadi- Nice Road- IIM (Bannerghatta Road) - NH47

2) Mangalore - Mysore-Bangalore

3) Mangalore - Bantval - Belthangady - Belur - Halebidu - Tiptur - Tumkur - Bangalore.

Since it is a new car, i am looking for less path holes and good road conditions. Please help me.

Thanks

Would suggest Mysore route...

My Brother yesterday returned via Shiradi Ghat, Sakeshpur, Hassan, CR Patna, Kunigal, Magadi Road, NICE Road, Electronic city, He told me that the road is very good.

Thanks, the ever changing conditions of roads to Mangalore caused me to worry a lot. I have gone through the thread and it is not updated in this monsoon season. Thats why opened a new thread to get some inputs.

No seconds thought required, take the Shiradi route.. From Mangalore you can avoid the BC road stretch if you go via Mangalore University

Just came back from a day trip to S. Belagola, Belur and Halebid.

Halebid - Banavara stretch (en route to Tiptur) is not advisable in a new car. It is a typical Karnataka potholed, single lane road with rough shoulders. Banavara to Arasikere is not much better and even the Tiptur toTumkur road is not for spirited driving, with broken surface most of the way. Tumkur bypass is a mess as usual. More importantly, Nelamangla – NICE road section is outright dangerous with all those maniacal cabbies. Avoid Nelamangala like the plague.

On the other hand Hassan - Kunigal is surprisingly good. Kunigal - Magadi - NICE road stretch is a dream come true.

Why don't you try Mangalore - Moodabidri - Karkala - Kalsa - Mudigere - Belur - Hassan - Kunigal - Magadi route? It is scenic, with very less traffic - especially trucks, and decent road surface all the way.

Thanks Folks. I just completed my trip from Mangalore to Bangalore via Shiradi Ghat, Magadi, NICE road, BG Road. I started around 4.30AM in the morning and reached home at 12.30 PM. It was raining from the moment i started from home and poured like anything till Haasan. Road condition is very BAD when compared to NH7. It is full path holes and no sign boards at all :( Road was OK from Haasan till bangalore. There were more than 70 tanker lorries going in a batch of 10. Damn, it was horrible to over take them. I will try other routes in my next travel.

Thanks again.

Hello All,

I am planning on driving from Bangalore to Mangalore this Saturday. I would like to know how good (or bad) the roads are. I am planning to take the Bangalore -> Kunigal -> Hassan -> Sakleshpur -> Mangalore route.

I have heard that the roads are now in a bad shape, but if anyone has first hand information on how bad it actually is, that would be great.

Thanks.

Bangalore - Mangalore route query is the longest running thread in TBHP history
