Anyone been to DARINGIBADI??

Fellow 'BhP-ians', just found out that this place called DARINGIBADI in Phulbani district of Orissa. Its called the Kashmir of Orissa and experiences snowfall (according to a Website).Situated at a height of about 3000ft (914.4 mtrs) above sea level in Balliguda sub-division. It is 105 km from Phulbani. The place can be approached directly from Berhampur.

Would like to know if anyone has been there?Nothing like a first hand experience. If YES , could you please share the Details.

As a student of Anthropology at Berhampur, I was supposed to go there for 15 days field study, but at the last moment it got changed to Paburia, near Raikia, which is also near Phulbani.I've never heard of snowfall at Daringbadi however.

Phulbani and the nearby places in that district are on a hilly terrain that is mostly forested. It was always a great drive from Berhampur---about 4 hrs , and climbing the steep Kalinga ghat was always a thrilling experience---on a Lamby, one had to drop to first gear at some places.
For those venturing into southern Orissa, there is a fabulous hot-water spring called Taptapani, located in dense forest on hilly terrain. It is around 54 kms from Berhampur. They've managed to divert the hot sulphur water from that spring to the dak bungalow nearby, and the 2 VIP rooms have the benefit of a bathroom that has 3 feet of that running water. Great place to visit.

Thanks Guys ..looks like its not a promotional gimmick after all. Hmm, need to do some research, but we all would be waiting for a POST from someone who has actually been there.

Bblost, could you get some more details from your friend? Route, road conditions, time taken to travel etc etc.
Vnabhi,Tatapani sounds very interesting.
You'r right Sumit ..every corner you find something unexpected.
