Hi Deepak,

By August end rains would take a break and its ideal time to visit Kerala. Not so hot and not so chill. Munnar would be a good choice with lot many scenic places around like Marayur (known for the sandalwood forest). Book your accomodation well in advance.

Please be informed that first week of Sept is Onam Festival and the wonderful snake boat race (Vallamkali) will take place in the backwater regions of Allepey and Kumarakom. Another good experience option.....

My suggestion would be Wayanad/ Vythiri, Munnar, Cochin, Periyar, Thekkady and back to Bangalore.

Shimoga - Bangalore - Madurai - Rameshwaram - Kanyakumari - Guruvayoor - Mangalore - Shimoga

On the way to Guruvayoor from Kanyakumari you can visit Kollam / Alapuzha / Kochi

But this is going to be a very long long drive and you need atleast 15days if you want to enjoy all the places.

Hi Deepak, hope I am not intruding into your thread. I am also planning a vacation to Munnar in the last week of Sept-1st week of October.
Planning to drive down to Bangalore and have 8 days.
What route and places should I go to. I would have my wife, parents and sis with me as well.

Then also you can do this trip and finish off the trip by giving a visit to your hometown at the end of the trip and come back to Bangalore

Bangalore - Madurai - Rameshwaram - Kanyakumari - Guruvayoor - Mangalore - Jog - Shimoga - Bangalore

A mixture of temples / beaches / historic places and hill stations whatelse you require.

Note - For your information myself had done - Bangalore - Madurai - Rameshwaram - Kanyakumari - Bangalore and this was done in just 4days.

Is this possible

Hello Fellow TBHPIANS,

Is the route snapped below is possible without much of strain.

Please appraise me on the Road Conditions for those roads.

A: Bangalore
B: Madurai
C: Rameshwaram
D: Kanyakumari
E: Alapuzzha
F: Ernakulam
G: Thrissur
H: Coimbatore
I: Salem
Back to A

Though F, G, H and I have no significance in my travel plan. Except that a colleague told me there is some good place around F.

I might be the only driver all along, wife might do atmost 50-60 kms only :(
Please suggest

Upto Kanyakumari roads no problem at all the roads are good and watch out for few diversions inbetween due to the road construction.

2nd Part Suggestions -

Kanyakumari - Alapuzha - Guruvayoor - Kozhikode - Wayanad - Bandipur - Mysore - Bangalore

Enjoy the trip.

Hi Deepak!

You can try coastal Andhra and go all the way to Rameshwaram in TN. There will be lots of places to see like Vizag, Vijaywada, Rajamundry and then Rameshwaram of course. If you go this way, you could visit the Minakshi temple as well very easily. I have personally been in those areas and it is very peaceful as well as green

Regards

Need Your Help Too: Sep 19-Oct 4 Trip Suggestions

Hey Folks,

I am in a similar situation. I will be off from Sep 18 - Oct 4 and looking for the best way to spend these 16 days. I would be travelling with my wife and 4 year old daughter. I do not want to cram too many places and would like to relax and enjoy the places I am in.

Optionally I am looking forward to arrange my trip so that
(1) I don’t drive more than 7-8 hours at a stretch and
(2) I choose the scenic routes and good roads.

Additional constraints - I have to be in Kumarakaom, Kerala around Sep 26-30 for a gathering.

Looking for: Hill resorts, Close to Nature, Relaxing and Rejuvenating
Not looking for: Warm climates, treks, Adventure (my 4 year old won’t like it)

Current Plan:
Bangalore -> Kodai (3 days) -> ? -> Kumarakaom (3 days) -> Munnar (3 days) -> Wayanad (3 days) -> Bangalore

Please let me know your suggestions and recommendations. I would be grateful if you can recommend some good places to stay.

@deepakchiniwal: sorry if I am hijacking your thread. I didn’t want to open another thread as the topic is very similar.

Anyone recently tried this route after the monsoon? can someone share the distance+time chart?

Can I drive through this route without hurting my Wagon R?

Any advices welcome. I'm thinking of taking this on 19th Sep. Planning start time at 4:00am. Kindly let me know if anyone else would want to try this route on the same day - same time.

I am visiting the South around the same dates. I would recommend Villa Retreat at Kodai or Dale thorpe. In Kumarakom a houseboat is a good idea for one day and I wonder if three days is not a trifle too long. Tharavadu houseboat cum heritage home is one place, but it all depends on your budget as the KTDC hotel is supposed to be good too. IN Munnar stay out of town. Again depends on your budget. I found approaching a travel agent for KTDC hotels gets you better deals than approaching them directly; a difference of nearly 30% on the fare quoted on their web site. Try it.
