Thanks for the route. I see 3 options now

1) After Belur - Shanivarsante - Somwarpet - Madikeri - 600 Km from Goa. Google says 12 hrs
2) After Belur - Hassan - Gorur - Arkalagud - Kushalnagar - Madikeri - 631 km from Goa. Google says 12.5 hrs
3) After Belur - Hassan - Holenarasipur - Hunsur - Madikeri - 700 km from Goa. Google says 13.5 hrs.

I don't think Google timings can be fully trusted. How long would it actually take for these options and would you still suggest option 3?

Also, what is the realistic time to reach Jog Falls from Panjim?

So I plan to leave Goa by 6 AM and reach Jog Falls by 12 PM.
If I leave Jog Falls by around 1 PM, can I expect to reach Madikeri by 9 PM by option 3?

I am a little worried about almost 100 km difference between option 1 and 3 above. So would just like to confirm one last time. In spite of everything, option 3 really is the best option, is that correct?

See here is the issue which I am not sure about:

- Distances in all options from Jog to Madikeri are more than 350km.
- Hence it should be a minimum of 6-7 hours.
- Roads south of Hassan (leaving the Mysore SH) are not in good shape.
(either Gorur/Arkalgud/Shanivarsanthe/Somwarpet/Madekeri or Gorur/Arkalgud/Ramnathpura/Kushalnagar/Madikeri).
- It would be good if some one can confirm if either/both of these sections are OK for a drive in the dark.
- But I am think Hassan/Holenarsipur/Hunsur is a good road to drive even at night, though it would add a good 80-100km extra.
