Hello All,

We have planned for a Austrian road trip starting 18th September to 24th September. We have booked the car from Sixt to be picked up and returned to the Airport.

Need some advice from experienced fellow travellers

Day 1: We will arrive in Vienna at 19:30, is it advisable to drive in the night to Salzburg or stay back in Vienna and then head out the next morning?
Day 2: Salzburg/Innsbruck
Day 3: either Zurich or head to Germany
Day 5: back to Vienna for the Vienna tour

Appreciate any info or advice on driving in this part of Europe and precautions to be taken.

If anyone has stayed at farmstays in Austria/switzerland/Germany, please let us know abt the same.

I know its a short notice but hope to get some good feedback

Have you done this trip? How was it? I love this part of the world- The Austria/Swiss/German border near Lake Konstanz is one of the best that you can see. I did this on the train and still remains fresh in my mind.

Did a week long motorcycle ride through the Austrian and Italian Alps : loved it. Had i checked this topic earlier, would have adviced you to stick to the mountains / alps..
