From where you are starting ? Pune or Kalyan/Mumbai?
Currently, Pune_indapur_tembhurni_kurduwadi_barshi_latur_ahme dpur_nanded is the best and fastest route. I just travelled 15days back. I reached from bhigwan to Latur in flat 3:30 hours, yes 3:30 hours. |
Thank you sir!
I was to start from Pune. But fortunately I easily got tatkal train tickets, so road trip from Pune to Nanded won't happen.
Anyways, it's great to know the best route.
Thanks once again!
How are the road conditions from Nanded to Latur. Travelling from Nagpur to Latur mid December and wanted to know the current status and what to expect during the journey.
I have heard Nagpur to Nanded roads are good with more or less 4 lane roads.
I need to travel from Pune to Nanded in the coming few days. I have two options.
1. Pune - Ahmednagar - Pathardi
2. Pune - Ahmednagar - Aurangabad
3. Any other best option
I need a suggestion, which road I should take to minimise driving fatigue.

This is the pick among the two. This is shorter compared to other one and surface is also good till Pathri. I usually take this while going to Parbhani. Not sure, if you'd go via Pathri-Parbhani route or Parli Gangakhed route. You may have to alter the route, accordingly.

I am thinking in lines of:
Pune-Solapur-Tuljapur-Latur-Nanded
Pune to Solapur to Tuljapur is in great shape.
Tuljapur-Latur was concrete 4-lane. I did this 5 years back and most of the 4-laning was completed. This 4-lane was to continue till Nanded. This piece am missing.
(or)
Pune-Aurangabad-Washim-Nanded
Pune-Nagar-Aurangabad is bumpy SH.
You can take Samruddhi from Aurangabad to Washim and connect to Nanded.
A slight corollary to above, you can take Samruddhi from Sinnar too.

I haven't used Pathri - Manvat - Parbhani recently. But it was under repairs till a couple of years back and was bad in shape.
I have taken Pathri - Pokharni - Parbhani some 8-9 months back. It was in great shape. Google maps also gives this as an option.
The patch that is bad till Nanded is Parbhani - Basmat. Basmat - Nanded has a couple of options. Both decent.

Some of my relatives travel by car from Nanded but never have I heard them taking any of the two routes mentioned by you. The Solapur route see heavy truck traffic while the Aurangabad route is longer and you have to cross a big town like Aurangabad which takes up a good amount of time.

I am not a fan of taking interior Marathwada roads. They've been notoriously bad in the years I've taken all sorts of routes to Shirdi.
Aurangabad has a proper bypass for the last year and half.
While going via Samruddhi might be longer. Tuljapur-Latur would certainly be fast. You pretty much get 4-laned roads end to end.

Which highway ex-Pune is free?
My personal experience - I prefer the Pune - Ahilyanagar - Pathardi - Pathri - Pokharni - Nanded route. I've traveled this route several times last year & each time I reach Nanded within 8 hours (including breaks).
Even though this is the shortest & probably the fastest route, I always get the feeling that I've been driving for hours - I don't have a reason for this, but a few others too shared this experience with me.
Another option would be to take the Solapur route. Its longer, but I hear it'd take around 9 hours from Pune.

I just came back from Nanded. This route took nine hours to complete: Pune—Solapur—Tuljapur—Latur—Nanded.
Roads are excellent four-lane from start to end. Less traffic. It is very comfortable to drive stress-free, but it has a toll.
