Bangalore guys - Need your help!!

Hi T-BHPians,

I'll b landing in banglore on 18th, around 9.30am. From the airport, I have to get to Kormangala. Have some work there, exact address I dont have right now, but I guess its 6th or 7th block.

Then, I'll have to proceed to Mysore.

I need your inputs on the following things - (and yes, this will be my first visit to bangalore)

1. Fastest way to Kormangala from Airport. Taxi, obviously, I guess. Any idea about the fares?
Also, is there any prepaid taxi service? (I mean, being new, a taxi driver can any day take me for a ride to inflate his bill!!)

2. From Bangalore to Mysore, I'll be joined by 2 more of my friends, so what should be it, bus or cab? If bus, from where can I catch one?

P.S - Since the max sightings are from bangy, let me see how many T-BHPians I spot!!

When you land at the airport, come out of arrival hall and first thing you have to do is avoid all those people who approach you and offer taxi services. Look at 11'o clock and you should spot a line for taxi. Go stand in that line. You would board Meru or Easy cab from there. Remember these two names. If you see some other taxi, you are in the wrong line. The fare from Airport to Koramangala 6th or 7th block should be about 600 - 650 Rs.

There are tons of buses and also some trains which go from Bangalore to Mysore. Its your choice really. Plenty of options are available.

A Volvo bus should be around 250 or so. I've heard the Mercedes is around 280 or 290.

There is also an option of boarding Air conditioned Volvo Buses run by the B'lore transport corp, from the airport to various parts of Bangalore. Their fares are very reasonable and they depart almost every 15 mins. The staff are helpful and will guide you to the right bus as well.

B'lore to Mysore - Hondadude has covered it well. Plenty of buses from the Central Bus stand, again run by the state transport corp.

Remember, Airport to Koramangala is around 42 kms. Time to travel in Cab from Airport to Koramangala is 1 hr 15 min. Distance from Bangy to Mysore is 140 kms. To Mysore, in car it takes around 3.5 hrs to reach. In Bus too its max 4 hrs. The Bangy Main Bus stand name is Kempegowda Bus Stand. You can catch a bus to Mysore from Satellite bus stand on Mysore road in Bangalore. Job in Infosys?

well, book your seat in airliftonline.com website. Choose the home drop should be about 500 bucks (338 Standard fare+100 for home drop). The cab is a Innova with pilot seats.

For Mysore, I suggest you pick up a cab since you are new. For a Indica you will be charged about 5-6 Rs per Km. Distance should be about 150 - 160 kms from Koramangala - Infy, mysore campus.

By car, B'lore to Mysore takes no more than 2 and half hours. Even Volvos take pretty much same time (3 hours max).

Volvo buses (Fare Rs.225/-) start from Kempe Gowda (KG) Bus Stand (B'lore main bus stand). The ordinary buses (Rs.85 to 150) usually start from Satellite bus stand. Coming from Koramangala, you are better off taking a Volvo to Mysore from KG bus stand.

Once you reach Mysore, get a pre-paid auto at the bus stand and you would have to pay a fixed fair only. If u try to get an auto on your own, you may get ripped off .

This is the most economical option.

Another option would be to hire a cab from B'lore to Mysore. Deepak has given you the details.

Re: Bangalore guys - Need your help!!

Hi Guys,

I'll be going to Bangalore this Saturday morning and need taxi for Rajajinagar at 9:30 AM from Bangaluru Airport. Any suggestions for reliable taxi service, should I book in advance or I can get at airport directly. What would be the expected charges and how much time it will take from Airport to Rajajinagar. Any suggestion is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You get Meru cabs outside the airport.
They are very reliable.

There are guys who will try to escort you saying "taxi saar"! Avoid them and any other prepaid taxi at any cost!!! Come out of the airport building and there is a regulated taxi line. Take the taxi from there which will have digital meter to calculate your fare. Generally you will see Meru cab, Easy cab and KSTDC taxis in that line.

Although you must have already arrived, but fo rthe benefit of others you get KSTDC Tourism buses to Mysore daily sightseeing tour.

You need to board from opposite the Town Hall (behind their office), it starts everyday at 6:00AM and is back by 8:00PM. Covers all Tourist spots in Mysore (unless its a weekly holiday for them eg. Mysore Zoo)

Small correction. Not opposite Town Hall but Opposite Corporation Office in front of their Head Office located in a well known heritage building named "Badami House". The tour covers tourist spots of Sri Rangapatna as well.
