Thank you, that's helpful. Bad road conditions will certainly be show stopper. Any thoughts on me taking the vadakancherry-kollengode-pollachi-dindigul-madurai route. I will certainly miss the scenic beauty though!

or Madurai-Theni-Kumily-Kanjirapally-Etumanoor-Vaikom-Kochi?

I am planning a drive on the Munnar-Madurai stretch in a week. Has anyone travelled through that road recently? How is the traffic and road condition? Any input would be helpful.
