Suddenly Simlipal also seems to be a good idea - except, a quick search on this forum turned up this info from adc - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/1283004-post14.html.

What's the situation on the ground now, if anyone is aware?

Did not know that. Must find out. Simlipal was a winter watering hole for us. Just checked out that we last went there in 2008. In a M800! Drove across from Lulung to Joshipur. Takes a whole day.
Shocked and saddened. Another Manas in the (un)making. Wonder why these happen to my favourite "get away from it all" spots.

Anyway, firm up your plans.

Regards
Sutripta

I know someone who owns a tourist lodge in the Bangriposhi area. I can give you their number if you are interested. But apart from Maoists the other worry these days in that area is cerebral malaria. Take adequate care.

And you have recently got the latest SUV from M&M... I shall be waiting for you on the outskirts of Dhanbad in the dead of night...

Will try Utkal bhaban first.
Celebral malaria has always been part and parcel of Simlipal:- right from my college days, when one of our college mates died.
On the other hand, been there innumerable times:- without mishap.

On another note: SS, your journey is going to be adventurous. Elections announced in Jharkhand.

I think my plans of travelling to Kolkata and elsewhere in WB/JH/OR by road in end-December just flew out of the window today. Elections are on till the 18th of December, and counting is on 23rd December. Absolutely no way I'm venturing into JH on the 24th - not in my car, not even in yours!!!
