I was told they are planning for some toll booth, but not very sure.

Yes Its there in h14's update where he mentions about a toll booth being built. Not sure if there is another on the Veppur-Vriddachalam section as well.

The toll booth is between Thalaivasal and Veppur. Its not functional yet but the construction is complete. And the markers for NH532 is very prominent along this road. And I think its a fantastic option for Chidamabram. In fact at the 4-lane exit, they actually mention Chidambaram. The road is a black top as of today end to end with all the markers in place.

What it saves you from:

- Getting into Ulundurpet town
- Bumpy Uludurpet-Mangalampetai-Vridhachalam section
- Wading through Vridhachalam town

The highway directly takes you to the bypass which ever way you want to head to; Chidambaram or Jayamkondan.

Am planning to travel to Thirunallar from Bangalore this weekend. Anything I should be aware of? Is a Saturday-Sunday trip doable? Going on Saturday and coming back just the next day?

TIA!!!

Hello Sir.

Did you do the trip to Thirunallar, as planned?

The reason I ask is, I am planning to drive to Thirunallar this Friday morning (Dec 23rd), go to Saneeswara Temple on Saturday and return to Bangalore on Saturday. So I want to know

1. What is the best route?
2. Road Conditions?
3. Was it to hectic to do up and down in 2 days.

Appreciate your feedback.

Bangalore-Salem-Thalaivasal-Veppur-Vridhachalam bypass - Jayamkondan- T Palur - Kumbakonam Bypass - Kollumangudi - Karaikal.

Basically go till Salem; take the Uludurpet 4-lane; go till Thalaivasal, exit to take NH532; go all the way till Vridhachalam bypass; take the road to Jayamkondan and reach Kumbakonam via T Palur.

Be on the Kumbakonam bypass and trace through to the Karaikal road exit.

2. Road Conditions?
Super awesome all the way. (At least till Kollumangudi; the place where you cut Mayavaram-Thiruvarur SH).

If you start by 4 in the morning, you can make it to Kumbakonam by 9:30/10 and to Karaikal by 12. Finish you darshan by evening and return the next day. You can do a morning darshan also and start by 11 to be back in Bangalore by 7/8.

Hello Experts,

We are planning a road trip to Tharangambadi (Tranquebar) from Bangalore. The plan is to leave early morning from Bangalore.

Need your advice & help with the route.

Google tells me to take NH44 to Salem, and then NH79? & NH532 until Virudhachalam and then NH70 until Bhuvanagiri & then Chidambaram Road & NH32 to Tharangambadi (Tranquebar).

Your help is much appreciated.

Thanks

Thats the precise route to follow. Just note:

- Where to exit the Salem Ulundurpet 4-lane at Thalaivasal (V Koot road)
- Vridhachalam to Chidambaram is just about decent. Not fully relaid I guess. (Will wait for your updates! :) )
- Beyond that its good. Chidambaram, Sirkazhi all have bypasses. Go past Sirkzhi bypass and then head to NH32.

Here is an update from my drive: We left Bangalore at 5am, Stopped at Salem (Saravana Bhavan Asai Dosai) for breakfast at 7:30. Left Salem at 8:30 and reached Tranquebar at 12 noon.

The route was good except the Vridhachalam -Chidambaram leg. This is almost a 50 Kilometre stretch. The road is under construction I guess, but we did not see a lot of activity. We had to slow down and drive carefully. Looks like it is going to be like this for a few months at least.

Friends,

I am planning a trip to visit Thiruvallar temple driving from Bangalore via road during next week. Any suggestions for good routes . I am okay to take toll roads too as long as the roads are good :-)

Option 1:
Bangalore - Krishnagiri - Salem - Namakkal - Musiri - Trichy - Thanjavur - Papanasam - Karaikal

While return, I plan to visit Brihadeeswara Temple , Tanjore. I hope I can cover it the same day when I plan my return from Karaikal, correct?

Is there any better options with good roads.

Thanks

I guess you meant Thirunallar there. You could take Salem-V-Koot Road-Vriddachalam bypass-Jayamkonam-Gangaikondacholapuram-Aduthurai-Manganallur-Peralam-Tirunallar.

You can look at the Thuraiyur-Kannanur route on Bangalore-Trichy thread for the return from Thanjavur

Please note that temples in TN are close Friday through Sunday.

I just confirmed calling Thirunallar temple official. They are open as they are in Pondicherry. The 3 day week end closure of temples is enforce only in Tamil Nadu.

Its technically in TN, about 3 km from the border :). Be aware that it could get crowded on Saturdays, early mornings are probably the best time.

The route to Karaikal is via Salem, Virudachalam, Chidhambaram?

And any COCO fuel outlet and breakfast stop beyond Salem?

Food. Your best shot is either Ramas Cafe or Attur AAB little further down on the opposite side.

No COCO on the route you are going. Sengurichi BPCL COCO is way off your route.
