UdeeChe is anyday better than any other hotel in Naddi.

the old couple that run the place are also very nice. Get the leftmost room on 1st floor i.e. room no 9 for the best views from balcony.

Not a very posh property but well maintained and clean.

cheers

Himachal route advice - Chail, Shoja, Nagar etc.

My family & I are planning a road trip to Himachal this coming week. If all goes per plan, should leave by this Monday (21st May 2012). The itinerary I've planned is as follows:

Delhi - Chail (stop over for 2 nights) - forest rest house
Chail - Shoja (stop over for 3 nights) - forest rest house
Shoja - Nagar (stop over for 4 nights) - forest rest house
Nagar - Bilaspur (stop over for a night) - PWD rest house
Bilaspur - Delhi

I would really appreciate any inputs from anyone who has done this/ any segments of this route before. Especially in terms of road conditions, possible stop overs/ refuelling points/ eating joints/ possible areas for some angling etc. Also, if anyone has any other advice it would be most welcome.

Never posted a query for a trip advisory before (used to believe in winging it - part of the charm of a road trip), but got a 8 month old travelling with me this time... so the extra caution. We all grow up - eh?

Cheers!
Abhijeet

P.S. - I think I should mention here, that I've done the Delhi - Chandigarh, Delhi - Shimla route umpteen number of times. But the other sectors are new to me and I've been especially worries after a friend mentioned that the Narkanda - Shoja section may not exactly be very motorable.

P.P.S. - I'll be driving a car with decent ground clearance (M&M Scorpio) but no 4x4

Fuel up at Narkanda. And if you are on tubeless tyres carry a puncture repair kit.

The bad road is really from shoghi to kufri - terrible and too much traffic.

as for angling, read up on indiamike - read more discussions there on angling than any TLs here.

not trying gushiani?

Why not drive back from naggar to delhi in one shot? bilaspur is not a great view place to stay IIRC.

  3. Smila,Chail, Narkanda, Sarahan
I have traveled to kangra valley(During my stint in sales profession)but the stay was for a day or two.

If there is any better options, plz do share.

Re: Suggest a place or an area in Himachal Pradesh for 4 - 5 days?

Guys, would be travelling to Barot in first week of June.

Also, what would be the best way to reach Barot from Solan ?
I can see the following three routes >

Solan > Kandaghat > Shoghi > Jutogh > Bhutwa > Darlaghat > Barmana > Sundernagar > Mandi > Barot
(245kms / 7.5 hours )

OR
Solan > Subathu > Kunihar > Barmana > Sundernagar > Mandi > Barot
(227kms / 7.2 hours )

OR

Come down from Solan > Parwanoo > Pinjore > Nalagarh > Panjehra > Swargha > Bilaspur > Sundernagar > Mandi > Barot
(284kms / 8.3 hours )

I dont mind travelling a few kms extra , though would prefer less of hill driving - it eats a lot of time. Please let me know the best route possible.

Re: Suggest a place or an area in Himachal Pradesh for 4 - 5 days?

Putting a query of my own on this thread since this seems to be only relevant one for queries on Himachal. I would be travelling to Naddi and staying at Udeeche next week. We do have one day extra and I dont want to come back on the Una>Anandpur Sahib route back to Chandigarh.

Does anyone have an idea how is the alternate route via Palampur>Mandi ? Any interesting place to stay overnight or spend a few hours on this route?
