I'm planning to take my Altis. Will it be a problem?
Thanks in Advance.
The weather is all bright and sunny now with the occasional mist.

The Sigur ghats are open for traffic, there are a few landslips on the way which have been cleared.

Should not be a problem. However the weather in the nilgiris is very unpredictable. The mets had predicted rain for another 48 hours yesterday.
Its shining glory though.

Any further updates for me Beejay ? My friend is leaving from Mysore tomorrow morning.

The Ooty to Coonnor road is still blocked. He would need to go to Coimbatore via Dodabetta, Katabettu from Ooty.
No problem on the Gudalur and Sigur ghats from Mysore.

As mentioned earlier its all bright and sunny now.

The entire region looks different. Will post pictures soon.

Hope you got my PM.

It would be best to come up via the Sigur ghats to Ooty.

The route through Gudalur is longer yet quite scenic. I am sure you have been here before and understand the nature of the Sigur ghats.

1. Mysore-Gundalpet-Bandipur-Mudumalai.
From Mudumalai you take left off the bridge and head to Masinagudi and then onto the Sigur ghats, 36 hairpinbends in total to reach Ooty.

2. Mysore-Gundalpet-Bandipur-Mudumalai.
Right from the here takes you to Thorapally-Gudalur and Ooty.

The 36 hairpin bends are quite steep in the first route and you would need to drive with care.

You are welcome people.

No, the only route to Mettupalayam is through Kotagiri.

There is a shortcut from Coonoor to Kotagiri and very few vehicles on this stretch.

On the Coonoor Kotagiri highway you reach a place called Bandishola, right from here takes you to Alakarai and straight to Kotagiri, near a junction called Aravenu. Aravenu is on the Kotagiri - Mettupalayam Highway.
