Bangalore - Goa-Cochin-Kanyakumari Route

Hi,
Need the advice of all you experts as am new to this site! Planning to do Bangalore-Goa-Cochin-Trivandrum-Kanyakumari-Bangalore in mid December with my wife and 4 year old. What would be the best routes after these rains caused by Cyclone Phyan?

Please suggest which would be a good place to halt overnight from Bangalore to Goa and Goa to Cochin. We plan to stop at Trivandrum with relatives; do Kanyakumari and then on to Tirunelvelli to meet more relatives. Then back to Bangalore via Madurai (can this bit be done at one go?)

We plan to do this entire trip over a fortnight (liesurely driving).

There is a thread titled "current condition of roads to Kerala", that too will help you.

And there is yet another thread on Bangalore - Goa travel.

I am afraid that NH 17 (or whatever remains of it) between Kundapura and Kasargod is really bad; and you may be better off avoiding that stretch.

A friend had planned Kollur (Mookambika) couple of weeks back, but stopped at Kasargod itself. I think he went only up to Manjeshwar and Ullal.
