Bangalore-Calicut alternate route

Hi,

I am planning to try driving through an alternate route to travel from Bangalore to Calicut. The normally used bus route is Bangalore-Mysore-Gundlupet-Sulthan Bathery-Kalpetta-Calicut.

How is the road and traffic condition in the following sections of the new route I am thinking of?

(1) Bangalore-Kanakapura-Malavalli-Kollegal-Chamarajanagar-Gundlupet

(2) Gundlupet-Bandipur-Gudalur-Nilambur-Areekode-Calicut

Is it advisable to take one or both of the above stretches of road?

Combination of (1) and (2) is what Google map gives for directions ...

have tried the second route and this is an excellent road albeit lot of turns and twists..stop at the KTDC aaram restaurant for lunch if you start early morning..
