Dear Friends,

I am planning to drive to Kadapa in next two weeks. I have thought about the following routes, but not sure which one to take. I need information and advise on the road conditions, better route to take.

Options:

1. Pune - Solapu - Bijapur - Hospet - Bellary - Guntakal - Gooty - Kadapa

2. Pune - Solapur - Hyderabad - Kurnool - Nandyala - Kadapa

3. Pune - Kolhapur - Belgaum - Hubli - Gadag - Hospet - Bellary - Guntakal - Gooty - Kadapa

Two years back I tried the option 3 route while returning from Kadapa. The road conditions from guntakal to Hospet are worse and is completely ridden with potholes.

Request your input, information, advice to plan my travel. I will be traveling with my family and would be traveling in Safari.

I recently travelled from Nandyala to Bangalore through Kadapa. This part is quite OK on 2 laned highway with smooth roads throughout. Dont go through Bellary Hospet roads.

Do not travel via Hospet - Bellary - Gooty Road.
I just returned via that strech on sunday
i have sworn that i never travel on that road again in my life if possible.

Eventhough i have never been on moon, i can safely say moon surface is better than these roads.

Ideally, stick to the route via Hyderabad. You have the option of going from Kurnool via Nandyal/Panyam or Gooty/Tadapatri.

Any Idea on the road conditions near kurnool, after recent floods?

Option two is the best. Till Kurnool from Hyderabad, it is a fantastic stretch on NH7. Just avoid NH63 and don't go anywhere near Bellary. Every road is broken in a 20 km radius around that place :)
