Delhi-Jabalpur:
Route via Sagar is the better of all the ba doptions. Road is abd between Gwalior and Jhansi and worsens as you go to Sagar. You can do it in a day assuming you leave Delhi early in the morning (~5 am).
Alternative is to go from Jhansi via Panna, but I think I will prefer to stick to your Route 1.
Sagar has a few hotels, better place to stay than Narasinghpur.
Bedghat is half hour drive from Jabalpur. You can also stay in Bedgehat in an excellent MPTDC hotel overlooking the Narmada River.
Your route to Kanha is correct via Mandla. Journey should take you 3 hours. Lot of places to stay in and around Kanha at various points like Kisli. Being the peak season, watch out jungle safaris are likely to be crowded (rationing of number of Gypsies allowed inside), and talk to your hotel guy as to his resources to arrange a trip.
You can drive Kanha-Ajanta in a day on the route you suggested. Road is excellent, on NH6 from Nagpur till Jalgaon. Alternative is to go via Wardha, but that route is more complex and will mean going via Aurangabad.
Ajanta has MTDC, but in case you do not get acco there, best is to stay at Aurangabad (100 kms more).
Direct route from Aurangabad is to go via Ellora, Vaijapur, Niphad and Nashik, which is teh shortest compared to the Ahmedanagar-Pune route. Now, Nashik-Thane-Bombay is a also a 4-lane road. |
