Hi - Has anyone driven Ernakulam to Tenkasi?

How are the roads? The distance (Wikimapia - Let's describe the whole world!) seems to be around 200km but I suppose it would take more than 4-5 hours to cover?

What is the most advisable route to use?

Appreciate the input - also, any additional pointers on a good place to stay for a night with family in Tenkasi would be good.

I don't know of any place at Tenkasi, however if you want to stay at Kutralam (5km from Tenkasi), options are Esakki resorts, Kutralam resorts & Saral resorts.
I stayed both at Esakki & Kutralam in the past 4 days and due to very low occupancy, service is very poor. But it should be ok for overnight stay. Saral resorts has got rooms as well as cottage and looked promising of the three (though I didn't stay there).....

Best route to Tenkasi is to come via Kollam, Kottarakara, Punalur, Tenmala and Schencottah.
Distance will be around 250 kms. You can cut the distance a little by coming via Kottayam to Kottarakara and then turning off to Punalur.
